1. A delivery catheter for use in occluding the flow of blood in the lumen of a vessel of a human vascular system comprising:

  • an elongate tubular shaft encircled by a sealing member, the elongate tubular shaft having a distal end and a lumen extending from the distal end to a location proximal of the distal end, the sealing member being expandable from a delivery configuration to a deployed configuration, the sealing member in its deployed configuration being sized to fill the lumen of the vessel, the sealing member being disposed on and carried by the elongate tubular shaft, the elongate tubular member being able to slide through and be advanced through a portion of the sealing member while the sealing member is in its deployed configuration and contacting the lumen of the vessel, the sealing member having a proximal end and a distal end, both the proximal and distal ends of the sealing member being slideable relative to the elongate tubular shaft, and the distal end of the elongate tubular shaft being the distal end of the delivery catheter.
