Abstract

An embodiment of the present invention is directed to a glove system including a glove and a wrist attachment. The glove has a base portion, which includes a first fastener. The wrist attachment includes one or more straps for enabling wearing of the wrist attachment on a human wrist, a functional feature, and a second fastener adapted to couple with the first fastener and for selectively attaching the first wrist attachment to the glove.

Claims

1. A glove system comprising:

a glove having a base portion, the base portion including a first fastener; and

a wrist attachment comprising;

one or more straps for enabling wearing of the wrist attachment on a human wrist;

a functional feature; and

a second fastener adapted to couple with the first fastener and for attaching the wrist attachment to the glove.

2. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises one or more magnets.

3. The glove system as recited in claim 2 wherein the one or more magnets comprise a plurality of spaced magnets stitched into a fabric of the wrist attachment.

4. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a swiveling flashlight having a spotlight.

5. The glove system as recited in claim 4 wherein the swiveling flashlight includes an indicator light that periodically blinks when the swiveling flashlight is activated.

6. The glove system as recited in claim 5 wherein the swiveling flashlight includes an operational button for controlling the spotlight and the indicator light.

7. The glove system as recited in claim 6 wherein a first number of presses of the operational button activates the spotlight.

8. The glove system as recited in claim 7 wherein a second number of presses of the operational button activates the indicator light.

9. The glove system as recited in claim 8 wherein a third number of presses of the operational button activates the spotlight and the indicator light.

10. The glove system as recited in claim 4 wherein the swiveling flashlight is waterproof.

11. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a laser measurer.

12. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a digital audio recorder.

13. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a laser level.

14. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a snake-light.

15. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a digital audio player.

16. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a heart rate monitor.

17. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a pedometer.

18. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a compass.

19. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a stopwatch.

20. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the functional feature comprises a global positioning system (GPS) unit.

21. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the wrist attachment comprises a layer of anti-fatigue gel disposed between the functional feature and a wrist-facing surface of the wrist attachment.

22. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the wrist attachment comprises a tab extending in a direction generally perpendicular to straps, and wherein the second faster is disposed on the tab.

23. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the first and second fasteners comprise mating strips of hook-and-loop fasteners.

24. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the first and second fasteners comprise mating snaps.

25. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the glove comprises anti-abrasion material disposed at a plurality of loci on the dorsal side of the glove.

26. The glove system as recited in claim 25 wherein the anti-abrasion material comprises polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, silicone or a para-aramid fiber.

27. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the glove comprises grip-enhancing material disposed at a plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove.

28. The glove system as recited in claim 27 wherein the grip-enhancing material comprises a silicone-based material.

29. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the glove comprises anti-fatigue gel disposed at a plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove.

30. The glove system as recited in claim 29 wherein the anti-fatigue gel comprises a viscoelastic polymer, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride or silicone.

31. The glove system as recited in claim 29 wherein the glove comprises grip-enhancing material disposed over the anti-fatigue gel at each of the plurality of loci.

32. The glove system as recited in claim 31 wherein the plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove include:

generally over the thenar region of a human palm;

generally over the hypo-thenar region of the human palm;

generally over one or more of the metacarpophalangeal joints; and

generally over the proximal phalanges.

33. The glove system as recited in claim 31 wherein the glove comprises anti-abrasion material disposed at a plurality of loci on the dorsal side of the glove.

34. The glove system as recited in claim 33 wherein the plurality of loci on the dorsal side of the glove include:

generally over the wrist joint;

generally over one or more of the metacarpals;

generally over one or more of the metacarpophalangeal joints; and

generally over one or more of the proximal phalanges.

35. The glove system as recited in claim 33 wherein the glove comprises reflective material disposed at one or more loci on the dorsal side of the glove.

36. The glove system as recited in claim 1 wherein the glove comprises magnetic fingertips.

37. A glove system comprising:

a glove having a base portion, the base portion including a first fastener;

a attachment comprising;

one or more straps for enabling wearing of the wrist attachment on a human wrist;

a functional feature comprising at least one of a magnet or a swiveling flashlight; and

a second fastener adapted to couple with the first fastener and for selectively attaching the first wrist attachment to the glove.

38. The glove system as recited in claim 37 wherein the wrist attachment comprises a tab extending in a direction generally perpendicular to straps, and wherein the second faster is disposed on the tab.

39. The glove system as recited in claim 37 wherein the first and second fasteners comprise mating strips of hook-and-loop fasteners.

40. The glove system as recited in claim 37 wherein the first and second fasteners comprise mating snaps.

41. The glove system as recited in claim 37 wherein the glove comprises anti-abrasion material disposed at a plurality of loci on the dorsal side of the glove.

42. The glove system as recited in claim 41 wherein the anti-abrasion material comprises polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, silicone or a para-aramid fiber.

43. The glove system as recited in claim 37 wherein the glove comprises grip-enhancing material disposed at a plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove.

44. The glove system as recited in claim 43 wherein the grip-enhancing material comprises a silicone-based material.

45. The glove system as recited in claim 37 wherein the glove comprises anti-fatigue gel disposed at a plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove.

46. The glove system as recited in claim 45 wherein the anti-fatigue gel comprises a viscoelastic polymer, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride or silicone.

47. The glove system as recited in claim 45 wherein the glove comprises grip-enhancing material disposed over the anti-fatigue gel at each of the plurality of loci.

48. The glove system as recited in claim 45 wherein the plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove include:

generally over the thenar region of a human palm;

generally over the hypo-thenar region of the human palm;

generally over one or more of the metacarpophalangeal joints; and

generally over the proximal phalanges.

49. The glove system as recited in claim 45 wherein the glove comprises anti-abrasion material disposed at a plurality of loci on the dorsal side of the glove.

50. The glove system as recited in claim 49 wherein the plurality of loci on the dorsal side of the glove include:

generally over the wrist joint;

generally over one or more of the metacarpals;

generally over one or more of the metacarpophalangeal joints; and

generally over one or more of the proximal phalanges.

51. The glove system as recited in claim 49 wherein the glove comprises reflective material disposed at one or more loci on the dorsal side of the glove.

52. The glove system as recited in claim 37 wherein the glove comprises magnetic fingertips.

53. A glove system comprising:

a glove comprising;

anti-abrasion material disposed at a plurality of loci on a dorsal side of the glove;

anti-fatigue gel disposed at a plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove;

grip-enhancing material disposed over the anti-fatigue gel at each of the plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove; and

a base portion, the base portion including a first fastener;

a first wrist attachment comprising;

one or more first straps for enabling wearing of the first wrist attachment on a human wrist;

a magnet stitched into a fabric of the first wrist attachment;

a layer of anti-fatigue gel disposed between the magnet and a wrist-facing surface of the first wrist attachment; and

a first tab extending in a direction generally perpendicular to straps, the tab having disposed thereon a second fastener adapted to couple with the first fastener and for selectively attaching the first wrist attachment to the glove; and

a second wrist attachment comprising;

one or more second straps for enabling wearing of the wrist attachment on a human wrist;

a swiveling flashlight having a spotlight; and

a second tab extending in a direction generally perpendicular to straps, the tab having disposed thereon a third fastener adapted to couple with the first fastener and for selectively attaching the second wrist attachment to the glove.

54. The glove system as recited in claim 53 wherein the plurality of loci on the palmar side of the glove include:

generally over the thenar region of a human palm;

generally over the hypo-thenar region of the human palm;

generally over one or more of the metacarpophalangeal joints; and

generally over the proximal phalanges.

55. The glove system as recited in claim 53 wherein the plurality of loci on the dorsal side of the glove include:

generally over the wrist joint;

generally over one or more of the metacarpals;

generally over one or more of the metacarpophalangeal joints; and

generally over one or more of the proximal phalanges.
