Abstract

The present invention relates to an electrochemical biosensor strip comprising a base which has a front side and a back side, an electrode system on the front side of said base, a code-recognition element on one end of the back side of said base, a cover which is located on said electrode system, and a reaction area which is in touch with said electrode system for a reaction to take place. By forms of said code-recognition element provided in the present invention, a biosensing device will automatically choose a specific set of calibration code corresponding to a particular batch of the electrochemical biosensor strip while coupling to the strip. Hence, the present invention eliminates the calibration step carried out by users and simplifies the measuring procedure, avoiding the inaccurate results due to the omission or improper operation of the calibration step by users. The present invention further relates to a method for identifying a corresponding biosensing device by using a ratio of lengths of each length-changeable area of the strip.

Claims

1. An electrochemical biosensor strip comprising:

a base having a front side and a back side;

an electrode system laid on the front side of said base;

a code-recognition element laid on one end of said back side of said base for corresponding to a specific set of calibration code;

a cover located on said electrode system; and

a reaction area touched with said electrode system for a reaction to take place.

2. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 1, wherein said code-recognition element is defined by laser etching or knife etching for shaping forms of said code-recognition element.

3. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 2, wherein said code-recognition element comprises at least four blocks.

4. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 3, wherein said code-recognition element comprises four blocks that are a first block, a second block, a third block and a fourth block respectively.

5. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 4, wherein said four blocks connect with each other.

6. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 4, wherein two of said four blocks connect with each other and the other two of said four blocks connect with each other and the two connected blocks disconnect with the other two connected blocks.

7. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 4, wherein said four blocks disconnect with each other.

8. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 4, wherein one of said four blocks disconnects independently with any other blocks and the other three of said four blocks connect with each other.

9. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 4, wherein two of said four blocks connect with each other and the other two of said four blocks disconnect independently with any other blocks.

10. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 4, wherein said code-recognition element is composed of conducting materials.

11. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 10, wherein said electrode system comprises at least three electrodes and at least one of said electrodes has a length-changeable area.

12. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 11, wherein said length-changeable area is used for identifying a biosensing device corresponding to said electrochemical biosensor strip.

13. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 12, wherein there is four forms of lengths of said length-changeable area.

14. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 13, wherein said electrode having said length-changeable area is regarded as a reference electrode.

15. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 14, wherein at least two electrodes of said electrode system have a length-changeable area respectively.

16. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 15, where there is a ratio of the lengths of said length-changeable areas.

17. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 16, wherein said ratio is used for identifying a biosensing device corresponding to said strip.

18. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 17, wherein said ratio is one of the ratios in a range of 1:

19. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 18, wherein said ratio is one of the ratios in a range of 1:

The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 16, wherein said electrode system comprises a silver layer and a carbon layer, said carbon layer is stacked onto said silver layer, and each electrode of said electrode system includes a correlated electrode of said carbon layer and a correlated electrode of said silver layer.

21. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 20, wherein said electrode system includes five electrodes and two of them have a length-changeable area respectively.

22. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 21, wherein said length-changeable area is part of said silver layer.

23. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 22, where there is a ratio of the lengths of said two length-changeable areas.

24. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 23, wherein said ratio is used for identifying a biosensing device corresponding to said strip.

25. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 24, wherein said ratio is one of the ratios in a range of 1:

26. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 25, wherein said ratio is one of the ratios in a range of 1:

The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 24, wherein said electrode system comprises five electrodes, and said five electrodes from one side to another side in a order are a first electrode, a second electrode, a third electrode, a fourth electrode and a fifth electrode, and said first electrode and said third electrode have a length-changeable area respectively.

28. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 27, wherein at least two electrodes of said electrode system connect with each other to form a short circuit and regarded as a reference electrode.

29. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 28, wherein said first electrode, second electrode and third electrode of said electrode system connect with each other to form a short circuit and regarded as a reference electrode.

30. The electrochemical biosensor strip of claim 29, further comprising a sensor end and a reaction end, wherein a distance between an end of said electrode system and said base at said sensor end is 0.1 to 1 millimeter.

31. A method for identifying a corresponding biosensing device by using an electrochemical biosensor strip, said strip comprising an electrode system which includes three electrodes and at least two of them have a length-changeable area respectively, said method comprising:

(a) contacting said electrode system with a biosensing device;

(b) detecting resistance values of the electrodes having said length-changeable area respectively and obtained said resistance values;

(c) calculating said resistance values according to a formula and obtained a final value;

(d) confirming whether said final value is match to a predetermined value of said biosensing device or not.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein said final value is used for identifying a biosensing device corresponding to said electrochemical biosensor strip.

33. The method of claim 32, further comprising steps which are turning on said biosensing device if said final value is match to said predetermined value, and do not turning on said biosensing device if said final value is not match to said predetermined value

34. A method for identifying a corresponding biosensing device by using an electrochemical biosensor strip, and said strip comprising an electrode system which includes five electrodes and at least two of them have a length-changeable area respectively, said method comprising:

(a) contacting said electrode system with a biosensing device;

(b) detecting resistance values of said two electrodes having said length-changeable area respectively and obtained a first resistance value and a second resistance value;

(c) calculating a ratio of said first resistance value and said second resistance value;

(d) confirming whether said ratio is match to a predetermined value of said biosensing device or not.

35. The method of claim 34, wherein said ratio is used for identifying a biosensing device corresponding to said electrochemical biosensor strip.

36. The method of claim 35, further comprising steps which are turning on said biosensing device if said ratio is match to said predetermined value, and do not turning on said biosensing device if said ratio is not match to said predetermined value.

37. The method of claim 36, wherein said ratio is one of the ratios in a range of 0.1 to 10.
