Abstract

A method and an apparatus of transmitting control information in a wireless communication systema are provided. The method includes transmitting first control information and second control information through an uplink component carrier (UL CC), wherein the first control information is for a first downlink component carrier (DL CC), and the second control information is for a second DL CC.

12. A method of transmitting control information in a multiple carrier system, performed by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

determining a single uplink (UL) component carrier (CC) used for transmitting at least one control signal for a plurality of downlink (DL) CCs via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH);

determining a resource used for a transmission of the PUCCH; and

transmitting, to a base station, the at least one control signal on the PUCCH of the single UL CC.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the at least one control signal includes a channel quality indicator (CQI) of at least one DL CC among the plurality of DL CCs.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

receiving, from the base station, a periodicity of the CQI, and wherein the CQI is transmitted on the PUCCH periodically.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the resource used for the transmission of the PUCCH is determined by information received from the BS.

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

receiving, from the BS, first DL data through a first DL CC among the plurality of DL CCs,

wherein the at least one control signal includes a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK)/not-acknowledgement (NACK) for the first DL data.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the resource used for the transmission of the PUCCH is determined by using a resource used for transmission of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) which indicates a DL assignment for the first DL data.

18. The method of claim 12, wherein the at least one control signal include a first control signal for a first DL CC and a second control signal for a second DL CC.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the first control signal is transmitted with a periodicity of a first cycle, and the second control signal is transmitted with a periodicity of a second cycle.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the second cycle is a multiple of the first cycle.

21. The method of claim 18, wherein the first control signal is transmitted on a first PUCCH, and the second control signal is transmitted on a second PUCCH.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein a resource used for transmission of the first PUCCH is identified by a first resource index for a first antenna and a resource used for transmission of the second PUCCH is identified by a second resource index for a second antenna.

23. The method of claim 18, wherein the first control signal includes a HARQ ACK/NACK bundled for the plurality of DL CCs, and the second control signal includes information indicating the plurality of DL CCs.

24. A operator of transmitting control information in a multiple carrier system comprising:

a radio frequency (RF) unit transmitting and receiving a radio signal; and

a processor coupled with the RF unit and configured to;

determine, a single uplink (UL) component carrier (CC) used for transmitting at least one control signal for a plurality of downlink (DL) CCs via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH);

determine, a resource used for a transmission of the PUCCH; and

transmit, to a base station, the at least one control signal on the PUCCH of the single UL CC.
