Abstract

An approach is provided for healthcare information management and providing remote healthcare examination. A platform receives position data corresponding to a mark to be projected onto a subject. The platform collects measurement data from a medical sensor coupled to the subject at the mark.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving position data corresponding to a mark to be projected onto a subject;

initiating projection of the mark onto the subject, wherein the mark specifies placement of a medical sensor onto the subject; and

collecting measurement data from the medical sensor coupled to the subject at the mark.

2. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

detecting movement of the subject;

determining a new position for the mark based on the movement; and

initiating projection of the mark at the new position onto the subject.

3. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

capturing an image of the subject; and

initiating transmission of the image to a device configured to generate the position data based on the image.

4. A method of claim 3, further comprising:

initiating transmission of the collected measurement data for storage in a database that is accessible by the device.

5. A method of claim 4, wherein the database is maintained by a service provider for providing a telemedicine service, and the device is associated with a subscriber of the telemedicine service.

6. An apparatus comprising:

a processor configured to receive position data corresponding to a mark to be projected onto a subject, and to initiate projection of the mark onto the subject,

wherein the mark specifies placement of a medical sensor onto the subject, and the processor is further configured to collect measurement data from the medical sensor coupled to the subject at the mark.

7. An apparatus of claim 6, wherein the processor is further configured to detect movement of the subject, to determine a new position for the mark based on the movement, and to initiate projection of the mark at the new position onto the subject.

8. An apparatus of claim 6, wherein the processor is further configured to capture an image of the subject, and to initiate transmission of the image to a device configured to generate the position data based on the image.

9. An apparatus of claim 8, wherein the processor is further configured to initiate transmission of the collected measurement data for storage in a database that is accessible by the device.

10. An apparatus of claim 9, wherein the database is maintained by a service provider for providing a telemedicine service, and the device is associated with a subscriber of the telemedicine service.

11. An apparatus of claim 9, wherein the apparatus is a mobile phone and further comprises:

a camera coupled to the processor and configured to generate the image; and

a projector coupled to the processor and configured to project the mark.

12. A method comprising:

receiving an image of a subject from a user equipment;

initiating presentation of the image via graphical user interface;

receiving an input, via the graphical user interface, specifying a mark on the image of the subject; and

generating a request indicating position data of the mark for projecting the mark onto the subject via the user equipment for placement of a medical sensor unto the subject to collect sensor data.

13. A method of claim 12, further comprising:

initiating transmission of the request to the user equipment; and

receiving the sensor data from the user equipment.

14. A method of claim 13, further comprising:

storing the sensor data in a database managed by a service provider as a telemedicine service.

15. A method of claim 12, further comprising:

receiving another input, via the graphical user interface, requesting to eliminate the mark on the image of the subject;

generating another request to stop projecting the mark onto the subject using the user equipment; and

initiating transmission of the other request to the user equipment.

16. A method of claim 12, further comprising:

determining movement of the subject to reposition the mark.

17. A system comprising:

a portal configured to receive an image of a subject from a user equipment, and to initiate presentation of the image via graphical user interface,

wherein the portal configured to receive an input, via the graphical user interface, specifying a mark on the image of the subject, and to generate a request indicating position data of the mark for projecting the mark onto the subject via the user equipment for placement of a medical sensor unto the subject to collect sensor data.

18. A system of claim 17, wherein the portal is further configured to initiate transmission of the request to the user equipment, the system further comprising:

a data collection module configured to receive the sensor data from the user equipment.

19. A system of claim 18, further comprising:

a database configured to store the sensor data from the user equipment, wherein the database is managed by a service provider as a telemedicine service.

20. A system of claim 17, wherein the portal is further configured to receive another input, via the graphical user interface, requesting to eliminate the mark on the image of the subject, to generate another request to stop projecting the mark onto the subject using the user equipment, and to initiate transmission of the other request to the user equipment.

21. A system of claim 17, further comprising:

a movement detection and compensation module configured to determine movement of the subject to reposition the mark.
