Abstract

A device may include a network interface configured to receive verification requirements and a message from a source device. In addition, the device may include a processor configured to receive a request from a destination device to send the message to the destination device, validate a logical address provided in the message based on a physical characteristic described or referenced in the verification requirements, and send the message to the destination device when the processor successfully validates the logical address based on the physical characteristic.

Claims

1. A device comprising:

a network interface configured to receive verification requirements and a message from a source device; and

a processor configured to;

receive a request from a destination device to send the message to the destination device;

validate a logical address provided in the message based on a physical characteristic described or referenced in the verification requirements; and

send the message to the destination device when the processor successfully validates the logical address based on the physical characteristic.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the physical characteristic includes one of:

a time window in which the message can be accessed by the destination device;

geographical coordinates of the destination device;

a device address of a component in the destination device;

or a physical address of the destination device.

3. The device of claim 2, wherein the device address includes at least one of:

an Internet Protocol (IP) address;

or

a media control access (MAC) address.

4. The device of claim 2, wherein the destination device includes one of:

a mobile computer;

a smart phone, or a computer.

5. The device of claim 2, wherein, to validate the logical address, the processor is further configured to:

compare the physical characteristic described in the verification requirements to a corresponding physical characteristic obtained by communicating with the destination device.

6. The device of claim 2, further comprising:

a storage to store physical characteristics that are associated with logical addresses, wherein, to validate the logical address, the processor it further configured to;

compare the physical characteristic described in the verification requirements to a physical characteristic retrieved from the storage by using the logical address as a key.

7. The device of claim 2, wherein the message includes one of:

a text message;

an email message;

a web page;

or a file.

8. The device of claim 2, wherein the logical address includes one of:

a universal resource locator (URL) or an email address.

9. The device of claim 2, wherein the message includes:

an encrypted message.

10. A method comprising:

receiving verification requirements and a logical address from a source device;

receiving a request from a destination device to establish a communication session with the source device;

validating the logical address based on a physical characteristic described or referenced in the verification requirements in response to the request; and

establishing the communication session between the source device and the destination device when the logical address is successfully validated based on the physical characteristic.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein validating the logical address includes:

obtaining a match between a device address obtained by looking up a database based on the logical address and a device address obtained by querying the destination device.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein validating the logical address includes:

matching a physical address provided in the verification requirements to a physical address obtained either by looking up a database based on the logical address or by querying the destination device;

or

matching a physical address retrieved from a database based on the logical address to a physical address obtained by querying the destination device.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein validating the logical address includes:

obtaining a geographical coordinates, from the destination device, of the destination device; and

using the geographical coordinates to validate the logical address.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein obtaining the geographical coordinates includes:

obtaining, from the destination device, a longitude and latitude of the destination device.

15. The method of claim 10, wherein establishing the communication session includes:

establishing a voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) call between the source device and the destination device.

16. The method of claim 10, wherein establishing the communication session includes:

authenticating the destination device for communicating with the source device.

17. The method of claim 10, wherein validating the logical address includes:

determining whether the destination device is requesting the communication session to be established within a time window prescribed in the verification requirements.

18. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

notifying the destination device that the message is available to be downloaded when the verification requirements are met.

19. A device comprising:

a client configured to;

generate a message based on input from a user;

receive, from the user, information for validating a logical address of a recipient of the message, the information including at least one of;

a device address of the recipient,

a physical address of the recipient, or

a geographical location of the recipient; and

send the message and the information for validating the logical address to a server device, the server device configured to validate the logical address of the recipient.

20. The device of claim 19, wherein the message includes an email message and the logical address includes an email address.
