1. A method of making an antimicrobial catheter comprising:
- providing a catheter;
the catheter comprising a catheter shaft defining a first lumen and having an outer surface;
the first lumen being in fluid communication with an opening located at a distal end of the catheter shaft;
the outer surface comprising a silicone;
immersing at least a portion of the silicone in a liquid comprising chlorhexidine gluconate to produce a silicone comprising an effective antimicrobial amount of chlorhexidine gluconate.
