1. A method for transmitting uplink rate assignment information for an uplink data transmission to a User Equipment (UE) by a Node B in a mobile communication system, comprising the steps of:
- determining the uplink rate assignment information to be transmitted for each UE; and
transmitting the uplink rate assignment information to the UE, the uplink rate assignment information being attached with a UE ID-specific Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) of the UE when directly indicating an uplink rate grant for the UE.

Abstract
A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting uplink rate assignment information for an uplink data transmission to a User Equipment (UE) by a Node B in a mobile communication system. The uplink rate assignment information to be transmitted for each UE is determined. The uplink rate assignment information is transmitted to the UE. The uplink rate assignment information is attached with a UE ID-specific Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) of the UE when directly indicating an uplink rate grant for the UE.
