Abstract

IMS networks with AVS sessions with multiple access networks. Systems and methods associate multiple access network sessions with a given user endpoint (UE) device. A UE is managed in an IMS network to have multiple concurrent sessions to corresponding access networks. An application server in the IMS network creates a computer-implemented representation of an audio video session (AVS). The AVS representation includes a first incoming leg (ICL) to represent at least the initial access network to which the UE has access. Subsequently, it is determined that the UE can access a different access network than the initial access network. The different access network is of different type than the initial access network.

Claims

1. A user endpoint (UE) for utilizing call models generated specifically for a user when connected to a network, the network including application servers (ASs) for providing services to the UE based on service requests by the UE, the network further including control logic for receiving service requests, via a serving call state control function (S-CSCF), from the UE, the UE comprising:

Personal Agent (PA) logic for

sensing a dynamic context of the UE'"'"'s environment;

transmitting the sensed dynamic context of the UE'"'"'s environment to the control logic;

receiving a new call model from the control logic based on the dynamic context of the UE'"'"'s environment; and

utilizing the new call model, wherein the new call model maps a service request to a plurality of ASs.

2. The user endpoint of claim 1, wherein the dynamic context of the UE'"'"'s environment comprises an access network that becomes newly available to the UE.

3. The user endpoint of claim 1, wherein the new call model specifies one or more new service profiles to be utilized by the ASs to provide the requested service.

4. The user endpoint of claim 3, wherein the service profile is selected based on policies.

5. The user endpoint of claim 3, wherein the service profile identifies a new UE or a new media renderer to be utilized by the ASs to provide the requested service.

6. The endpoint of claim 3, wherein the service profile identifies an out-of-band communication from the ASs to the UE.

7. The endpoint of claim 6, wherein the service profile identifies an out-of-band media transport from the ASs to the UE but control is effectuated in-band.

8. The endpoint of claim 7, wherein the out-of-band and in-band connections may use one of circuit-switched or packet-switched technologies.

9. The user endpoint of claim 1, wherein in response to a change in the environment of the UE, the personal agent logic is further utilized for

detecting a change in the dynamic environment of the UE;

transmitting the change to the control logic; and

utilizing a second new call model based on the second dynamic context, wherein the second call model specifies a new service profile and maps a service request to the plurality of ASs.

10. The user endpoint of claim 9, wherein the service profiles associated with the first and second call models are kept alive and one or more policies decide which profile to utilize based on a successive dynamic context messages.

11. The user endpoint of claim 9, wherein the sensing occurs while the UE is participating in a network service.

12. A method for utilizing call models generated specifically for a user when connected to a network, the network including application servers (ASs) for providing services to the user endpoint (UE) based on service requests by the UE, the network further including control logic for receiving service requests, via a serving call state control function (S-CSCF), from the UE, the method comprising:

sensing a dynamic context of the UE'"'"'s environment;

transmitting the sensed dynamic context of the UE'"'"'s environment to the control logic;

receiving a new call model from the control logic based on the dynamic context of the UE'"'"'s environment; and

utilizing the new call model, wherein the new call model maps a service request to a plurality of ASs.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the dynamic context of the UE'"'"'s environment comprises an access network that becomes newly available to the UE.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the new call model specifies one or more new service profiles to be utilized by the ASs to provide the requested service.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the service profile is selected based on policies.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein the service profile identifies a new UE or a new media renderer to be utilized by the ASs to provide the requested service.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein the service profile identifies an out-of-band communication from the ASs to the UE.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the service profile identifies an out-of-band media transport from the ASs to the UE but control is effectuated in-band.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the out-of-band and in-band connections may use one of the circuit-switched or packet-switched technologies.

20. The method of claim 12, wherein in response to a change in the environment of the UE, the method further comprises:

detecting a change in the dynamic environment of the UE;

transmitting the change to the control logic; and

utilizing a second new call model based on the second dynamic context, wherein the second call model specifies a new service profile and maps a service request to the plurality of ASs.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the service profiles associated with the first and second call models are kept alive and one or more policies decide which profile to utilize based on a successive dynamic context messages.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein the sensing occurs while the UE is participating in a network service.
