1. A method of implanting a satiation device in an upper gastro-intestinal region of a body, comprising the steps of:

  • positioning a satiation device on a distal portion of an elongate positioning tool;

    inserting the positioning tool with the satiation device thereon through an oral cavity and into a portion of the upper gastro-intestinal tract;

    manipulating the positioning tool to position the satiation device into contact with tissue at an implant location;

    coupling the satiation device to surrounding tissue at the implant location;

    separating the satiation device from the positioning tool; and

    withdrawing the positioning tool from the body leaving the satiation device positioned to restrict flow of ingested food from the esophagus into the stomach.
