Abstract

A comprehensive platform for developing digital products. A standardized process is applied to a product development effort and an online portal provides tools to aid the product development, assessment, funding and commercializing products. Project management, workflow and data security functionality enable consistent, efficient and secure interactions between users. Business rules, workflows, valuation models and rating methods may be user defined or based upon marketplace, industry or technology standards.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a computer for evaluating an opportunity, opportunity data comprising a title, a description and at least one of a product image for a product and a link to product information for a product, wherein the product is associated with the opportunity;

receiving, by the computer, a digital upload comprising the product;

validating, by the computer and based upon predefined rules, at least one of the opportunity data and the product;

in response to the validating, facilitating access to the product by a first evaluator;

receiving, by the computer and from the first evaluator, feedback associated with the product; and

calculating, by the computer and based upon the feedback, a product score for the product.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the calculating based upon the feedback comprises calculating based upon a plurality of feedback received from a plurality of evaluators, wherein the plurality of evaluators comprises the first evaluator.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the calculating based upon the feedback comprises calculating based upon at least one of:

a number of downloads of the product, a usage duration of the product, a number of times a website associated with the product is accessed, a score and a product evaluation of the product.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the calculating a product score comprises calculating using a statistical scoring technique.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the product score is based at least partially upon a plurality of product scores each associated with a different product.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing, based upon the opportunity data, at least one of information, marketing and advertising.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the providing further comprises determining, based upon at least one of the opportunity data and the product, a plurality of evaluators, wherein the plurality of evaluators comprises the first evaluator.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the product score is based at least partially upon the result of a product tournament.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the product score is based at least partially upon the opportunity data, wherein the opportunity data further comprises at least one of company information, inventor information, funding information and financial data.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the product score is based at least partially upon a web metric associated with an amount of references on the interne, wherein the references are associated with at least one of the product, a product category, a technology associated with the product, an industry associated with the product, a company associated with the product, an investor associated with the product and an inventor associated with the product.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the product score is based upon an evaluation of intellectual property (IP) associated with the product, wherein the product comprises at least one of a patent, a patent application, a trademark, a trademark application, a copyright, and a proprietary right.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the facilitating access comprises transmitting the product, wherein the product is uploaded onto an evaluator computer.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the evaluator computer comprises at least one of a mobile device, a phone, a tablet computer, a gaming console and a laptop computer.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the facilitating access comprises hosting the product on a website, wherein the first evaluator accesses product functionality associated with the product via the website.

15. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing, by the computer via an online portal and based at least partially upon the opportunity data, a plurality of tools for enabling development of at least one of the product and the opportunity.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the plurality of tools comprises at least one of a search tool, a statistical scoring tool, an access configuration tool, an interactive assessment tool, a recommendations tool, a storage tool, a feedback tool, an expert advice tool, a web recording tool, a market research tool, a project management tool, a prototype tool, a demonstration tool, a connect an recommend tool and a mobile alert tool.

17. The method of claim 1, wherein the receiving the opportunity data comprises receiving the opportunity data via the online portal and based upon a template.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the receiving the opportunity data comprises:

presenting, by the computer, a first question in an interactive assessment template, wherein the template includes fields which request standardized data for assessing the opportunity; and

receiving, by the computer and from a first user, a first response to the first question, wherein the first response is part of the standardized data.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the receiving the opportunity data further comprises:

determining, by the computer, a second question based at least partially upon the first response to the first question, wherein the first response indicates that the first user is at least one of an entrepreneur and an inventor; and

receiving, by the computer, a second response to the second question, wherein the second response is part of the standardized data.

20. A system comprising:

a network interface associated with a non-transitory memory and a computer for evaluating an opportunity;

the computer configured to execute a computer program;

the computer program, when executed by the computer, is configured to perform operations comprising;

receiving, by the computer, opportunity data comprising a title, a description and at least one of a product image for a product and a link to product information for a product, wherein the product is associated with the opportunity;

receiving, by the computer, a digital upload comprising the product;

validating, by the computer and based upon predefined rules, at least one of the opportunity data and the product;

in response to the validating, facilitating access to the product by a first evaluator;

receiving, by the computer and from the first evaluator, feedback associated with the product; and

calculating, by the computer and based upon the feedback, a product score for the product.

21. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, if executed by a computer for evaluating an opportunity, cause the computer to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by, the computer, opportunity data comprising a title, a description and at least one of a product image for a product and a link to product information for a product, wherein the product is associated with the opportunity;

receiving, by the computer, a digital upload comprising the product;

validating, by the computer and based upon predefined rules, at least one of the opportunity data and the product;

in response to the validating, facilitating access to the product by a first evaluator;

receiving, by the computer and from the first evaluator, feedback associated with the product; and

calculating, by the computer and based upon the feedback, a product score for the product.
