Abstract

Techniques for managing a presentation of information in a gesture-based system, where gestures are derived from a user'"'"'s body position or motion in the physical space, may enable a user to use gestures to control the manner in which the information is presented or to otherwise interact with the gesture-based system. A user may present information to an audience to an audience using gestures that control aspects of the system, or multiple users may work together using gestures to control aspects of the system. Thus, in an example embodiment, a single user can control the presentation of information to the audience via gestures. In another example embodiment, multiple participants can share control of the presentation via gestures captured by a capture device or otherwise interact with the system to control aspects of the presentation.

Claims

1. A method for establishing a shared presentation experience, the method comprising:

rendering a presentation of information;

capturing data of a physical space, wherein the captured data is representative of gestures of a plurality of users; and

recognizing the gestures from the captured data, wherein each gesture is adapted to control an aspect of the presentation such that the plurality of users share control of the presentation via the gestures.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of users is designated as at least one of a primary user, a secondary user, or an observing user.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the captured data is a merge of data captured by multiple capture devices in the physical space.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein a first capture device captures a first user and a second capture device captures a second user.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the gestures is a trigger for information gathering related to the gestures.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the information gathering comprises a passive gathering of information related to the gestures and logging the information for subsequent access.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein the information gathered is provided in real-time to at least one of the plurality of users or as an output to a display.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein a primary control of the presentation may be transferred between the plurality of users.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the presentation of information comprises at least one of an animation, a graphic, text, a word processing document, a video, an audio, a slide, a database, media, a chart, a chat, a forum, or an instant message.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one gesture comprises at least one of dynamic movement, static movement, or speech.

11. A method for rendering a visual representation in a shared presentation experience, the method comprising:

rendering a presentation of information;

capturing data of a physical space, wherein the captured data is representative of a plurality of users in the physical space; and

rendering at least one visual representation that corresponds to each of the plurality of users, wherein the at least one visual representation is adapted to interact with the rendered presentation of information.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the at least one visual representation is adapted to interact with the rendered presentation of information via an animation that interacts with a portion of the presentation.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the animation of the at least one visual representation corresponds to a gesture of at least one of the plurality of users.

14. The method of claim 12, further comprising applying the animation from an avatar library to the at least one visual representation.

15. The method of claim 11, wherein each of the plurality of users corresponds to a distinct visual representation.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein each of the plurality of users corresponds to a same visual representation.

17. The method of claim 11, wherein the at least one visual representation corresponds to a feature of a user detected by a capture device.

18. The method of claim 11, wherein a control of the presentation to at least one of the plurality of users may be indicated by a feature of the visual representation that corresponds to the at least one of the plurality of users.

19. A method for establishing a non-sequential presentation experience, the method comprising:

compiling a plurality of information for a presentation;

rendering the non-sequential presentation of the information, wherein the presentation comprises a non-sequential format of the information adapted for progressive navigation of the information,

capturing data of a physical space, wherein the captured data is representative of gestures of a plurality of users; and

recognizing a gesture that controls an aspect of the non-sequential presentation.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein a plurality of users share control of the non-sequential presentation via gestures.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein a display of the non-sequential presentation is adapted for selection of at least a portion of the non-sequential presentation from a canvas of assets.
