Abstract
The present invention provides systems and methods of doing business that provide revenue streams to ISP based on advertising revenue for advertisements displayed to ISP customers as a result of Internet communication sessions. In certain configurations, the invention provides redirect services based on pre-defined criteria, and displays advertising on redirection landing pages.

21. A method of generating revenue using a computer, said method comprising:

receiving one or more IP address lookup requests from two or more users of two or more different ISPs; analyzing the lookup requests for one or more pre-defined bit strings, wherein at least one of the pre-defined bit strings indicates the protocol associated with the request; and redirecting the users to IP addresses containing landing pages that are dynamically built by providing IP addresses for landing pages that are generated only if the pre-defined bit string indicates that the protocol associated with the request is a pre-defined protocol, wherein the provided IP address is a different IP address than the IP address requested in the lookup request, wherein the landing pages comprise information that is relevant to the IP address requests but do not include the content of the requested IP address, wherein the content provided in the landing page is provided instead of the content contained at the requested IP address, and wherein the landing pages include advertising; and generating revenue by including the advertising. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)

31. A computer system for controlling Internet communication traffic, said system comprising:

at least one DNS server that provides Internet Protocol (IP) address look-up functions; at least one first processor that; receives IP address lookup requests from at least two different users of at least two different ISPs; analyzes the lookup requests for one or more pre-defined bit strings, wherein at least one of the pre-defined bit strings indicates the protocol associated with the request; and provides an IP address for a landing page that is generated only if the pre-defined bit string indicates that the protocol associated with the request is a pre-defined protocol, wherein the provided IP address is a different IP address than the IP address requested in the lookup request; and at least one second processor that dynamically builds the landing page at the different IP address based on information in the request, wherein the content of the landing page is provided instead of the content provided at the requested IP address and does not include the content of the requested IP address. - View Dependent Claims (32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38)
