Abstract

The present invention relates to systems and methods that facilitates rendering of data in an industrial automation environment. According to an aspect of the invention, a device analyzer can determine properties associated with a plurality of devices intended for delivery of data. An HMI generator can format the data respectively in accordance with the determined properties of the devices and deliver the formatted data to the respective devices.

Claims

1. A system, comprising

a human machine interface (HMI) library configured to store a visualization that represents data received from an industrial automation system;

and

a HMI generator configured to modify the visualization based on one or more capabilities of a display device.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the HMI generator identifies a format for the visualization based on an analysis of at least one of a processing capability, a display capability, a memory capacity, or a formatting attribute supported by the display device.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the HMI generator identifies a format for the visualization by employing a plug-and-play technology.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the HMI generator detects connection of the display device to a communication network.

5. The system of claim 3, wherein the HMI generator delivers the modified visualization to the display device over the communication network.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the display device comprises a mobile communication device.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the visualization includes one or more software objects that facilitate control of at least a portion of the industrial automation system from the display device.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the HMI generator generates a plurality of software objects for presenting the data that are customized for the display device.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the HMI generator detects a change in one of the plurality of software objects and dynamically updates a remaining of the plurality of software objects to reflect the change.

10. A method, comprising:

generating a software object indicative of industrial automation data; and

formatting the software object based on one or more attributes of a display device.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising, delivering the formatted software object to at least one of a data store or a server.

12. The method of claim 10, further comprising, storing the formatted software object.

13. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

identifying that the display device is connected to a communication network; and

transmitting the software object to the display device over the communication network.

14. A method, comprising:

receiving industrial automation data; and

creating, for disparate display devices, disparate visualizations that graphically represent the industrial automation data.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising, storing the disparate visualizations in a central data store.

16. The method of claim 14, further comprising, detecting connection of one of the disparate display devices to a communication network.

17. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

identifying one of the disparate visualizations based on at least one capability of one of the disparate display devices; and

delivering the one of the disparate visualizations to the one of the disparate display devices.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the delivering includes providing information indicative of rendering the industrial automation data in at least one of textual, graphical, audio or video format on the one of the disparate display devices.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the identifying includes analyzing at least one of a processing capability, a display capability, a memory capacity, or a formatting attribute supported by the one of the disparate display devices.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the identifying further includes selecting the one of the disparate visualizations based on the analyzing.

21. A computer readable storage medium comprising computer-executable instructions that, in response to execution by a system, cause the system to perform operations, comprising:

receiving industrial automation data; and

generating a software object, indicative of industrial automation data, which is customized for a specific display device.
