1. A kiosk system for establishing Internet communication with a target geographic community, the kiosk system comprising:
- a computer in communication with the Internet, the computer being publicly and physically accessible by individuals in a target geographic community and operative to receive and send content via the Internet,the content comprising information directed at the target geographic community, the information comprising non-textual elements, the non-textual elements when displayed being activatable by the individuals;
a display in communication with the computer for displaying an electronic message board comprising screen-displayable content comprising the non-textual elements,the electronic message board operative to associate the received content with one or more usage metaphors and further operative to use the usage metaphors to identify additional content related to the received content; and
a data storage unit, in communication with the Internet, for storing the received content and the associated usage metaphors,wherein the computer is programmed to play the non-textual elements and the additional content related to the received content upon their activation.

Abstract
A rich media notice board enables users to communicate with others in their own and related communities who use the rich media notice board or other rich media notice boards, such as those in related communities, as well as with others who use conventional interfaces via the Internet. The users of the rich media notice board can post notices including text, images, audio, and video to the rich media notice board. The notices may also include usage metaphors that may allow users to relate to the notices. A user interface of the rich media notice board may employ the usage metaphors to provide an interface that may be used by users who may not read or write with sufficient proficiency to otherwise use a computer. The users may access the rich media notice boards from computers, mobile phones, and kiosk systems.
