Abstract

An automated tool for migrating a website hosting service from a first website hosting architecture to a second website hosting architecture, each website hosting architecture comprising a server architecture that serves a plurality of common services from a plurality of machines to a plurality of unrelated websites.

Claims

1. A method of automatic website hosting service migration, comprising:

determining a plurality of first common website hosting services provided by a first website hosting architecture that serves a plurality of common services from a plurality of machines to a plurality of unrelated websites;

analyzing the plurality of first common website hosting services to identify at least one of the plurality of first common website hosting services that corresponds to a common website hosting service of a second website hosting architecture; and

in response to a request for the at least one of the plurality of first common website hosting services, serving the corresponding common website hosting service from the second website hosting architecture, wherein the second website hosting architecture serves a plurality of common website hosting services from a plurality of machines to a plurality of unrelated websites.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the second web site hosting architecture is a cloud computing environment.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the second web site hosting architecture is a grid computing environment.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of machines of the second website hosting architecture is configured into a plurality of common service pools.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first web site hosting architecture is a cloud computing environment.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the first website hosting architecture is a grid computing environment.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of machines of the first web site hosting architecture is configured into a plurality of common service pools.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first web site hosting architecture is one of a grid and a cloud computing environment and the second website hosting architecture is one of a grid and a cloud computing environment.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of machines of each of the first and second website hosting architectures are configured into a plurality of common service pools.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein serving the corresponding common website hosting service includes determining a migration status for the at least one of the plurality of first common website hosting services and serving one of the at least one of the plurality of first common website hosting services from the first website hosting architecture and the corresponding common website hosting service from the second website hosting architecture based on the determination.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the first web site hosting architecture comprises a virtual computing environment.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the second website hosting architecture comprises a virtual computing environment.
