1. A method of data transmission, comprising:

  • (a) receiving at least one stream of data;

    (b) framing the at least one stream of data using Generic Frame Protocol (GFP) to provide GFP bytes;

    (c) encoding the GFP bytes with control data to provide control data encoded bytes;

    (d) encoding the control encoded bytes with a Reed Solomon encoder to provide Reed Solomon encoded data;

    (e) interleaving the Reed Solomon encoded data to provide interleaved Reed Solomon encoded data;

    (f) encoding the interleaved Reed Solomon encoded, data using an array of pulse amplitude modulated data symbols to provide pulse amplitude modulated data;

    (g) serially transmitting the pulse amplitude modulated data as ultra wideband impulses concurrently with a non-ultra wideband clock signal through an digital downstream bandpass filter to provide analog filtered ultra wideband impulse;

    (h) further serially transmitting the analog filtered ultra wideband impulses concurrently with the non-ultra wideband clock signal downstream over a hard-wired medium;

    (i) receiving the digital filtered ultra wideband impulses and non-ultra wideband clock signal downstream over the hard-wired medium;

    (j) recovering and decoding the pulse amplitude modulated data symbols from the analog filtered ultra wideband impulses using a Digital Frequency Equalizer (DFE) to provide recovered ultra wideband data;

    (k) recovering the non-ultra wideband clock signal using a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) locked to a Digital Analog Converter (DAC);

    (l) synchronizing the recovered ultra wideband data with the non-ultra wideband clock signal;

    (m) de-interleaving the pulse amplitude modulated data symbols;

    (n) decoding the data symbols using a Reed Solomon decoder to provide the control encoded data; and

    (o) decoding the control data encoded bytes to create GFP bytes.
