1. A brazed joint between an armature bar and a cooling fluid box, the joint comprising:

  • a cooling fluid box with an inboard end, an opposing outboard end, a first side wall, and a second side wall, the first side wall opposing the second side wall;

    a plurality of conductor strands extending into the inboard end of the cooling fluid box, wherein the plurality of conductor strands are arranged in a plurality of columns;

    at least one side wall spacer wedged between the plurality of conductor strands and at least one of the first side wall and the second side wall, wherein the at least one side wall spacer has a first tapered width that tapers in a direction from the inboard end of the cooling fluid box toward the outboard end of the cooling fluid box; and

    at least one middle spacer wedged between at least a first column of the plurality of conductor strands and a second column of the plurality of conductor strands, wherein the at least one middle spacer has a second tapered width that tapers in a direction from the outboard end of the cooling fluid box toward the inboard end of the cooling fluid box.
