Abstract

An exemplary system includes an automated banking machine (322) which is operable to conduct transactions including cash dispensing for users responsive to communication with a transaction host (336). The machine is also operative to provide output signals which drive external displays (328, 330) which are separate from the machine. The machine is operable to receive visual and audio content from one or more broadcast content sources (342, 343) and to store the content in the machine. The content is then output through the external displays. The machine is also operative to receive and store a plurality of advertising messages. The advertising messages are output in a targeted manner to users of the machine.

Claims

1. Apparatus comprising:

a banking system arrangement,

wherein the arrangement includes an automated banking machine that is operable responsive at least in part to data bearing records,

wherein the machine includes a cash dispenser,

wherein the cash dispenser is operative to selectively dispense cash stored in the machine to authorized users of the machine,

wherein the machine includes at least one reader,

wherein the at least one reader is operative to read customer data usable to identify a financial account on which at least one financial transaction can be carried out,

wherein the machine includes a customer touch screen,

wherein the customer touch screen is operable by a bank customer in carrying out the at least one financial transaction,

wherein the arrangement includes a teller station,

wherein the teller station includes a teller touch screen,

wherein the teller touch screen is operable by a bank teller in assisting the customer in carrying out the at least one financial transaction,

wherein the teller touch screen is spaced from the customer touch screen,

wherein the arrangement includes at least one computer,

wherein the at least one computer is in operative connection with both the customer touch screen and the teller touch screen,

wherein the at least one computer is operative to cause different customer transaction screens associated with the at least one financial transaction to be output through the customer touch screen,

wherein the at least one computer is operative to cause respective customer transaction screens to be individually simultaneously displayed through both the customer touch screen and the teller touch screen,

 

wherein the at least one computer is operative

 

during a simultaneous display of a first customer transaction screen through both the customer touch screen and the teller touch screen, wherein the first customer transaction screen includes a first particular area,

 

to cause the first particular area being displayed through the customer touch screen to visually change to show corresponding bank teller hand-drawn markings

 

as a result of the bank teller causing moving contact with the teller touch screen over the first particular area being displayed through the teller touch screen.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the arrangement includes a plurality of automated banking machines,

wherein each automated banking machine includes

a cash dispenser,

at least one reader device,

wherein the at least one reader device includes a card reader and a biometric reader,

at least one computer,

wherein the at least one computer is operative during a transaction to

cause card data to be read from a customer card through operation of the card reader, and

cause biometric data to be read from a customer through operation of the biometric reader,

wherein the at least one computer is operative to cause the read card data to be compared with card information stored in an authorized machine user information data store,

wherein the at least one computer is operative to cause the read biometric data to be compared with biometric information stored in the authorized machine user information data store,

wherein a customer is authorized to request a financial transaction that involves operation of the cash dispenser responsive at least in part to both

computer-determined correspondence between the read card data and stored card information, and

computer-determined correspondence between the read biometric data and stored biometric information.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1

wherein the teller station and the machine are positioned inside of a banking facility, wherein the teller station is located a distance from the machine,

wherein the arrangement includes at least one communications link between the teller station and the machine, wherein the at least one communications link enables audio communication between a bank teller at the teller station and a customer at the machine.

4. The apparatus according to claim 3

wherein the at least one communications link enables visual communication through the teller touch screen and the customer touch screen between the bank teller at the teller station and the customer at the machine,

wherein the at least one computer is operable to cause visual broadcast content to be output through the customer touch screen,

wherein the visual broadcast content corresponds to at least one of information concerning news events, information concerning sporting events, information concerning weather conditions, and information concerning stock values.

5. Apparatus comprising:

a transaction arrangement comprising;

at least one computer,

a customer station operable by a customer in carrying out a financial transaction,

wherein the customer station includes a customer display interface,

wherein the customer display interface is in operative connection with the at least one computer,

wherein the customer display interface includes a customer touch screen,

 

wherein the customer touch screen is operable to display at least one output to the customer,

 

wherein the at least one output includes transaction information corresponding to the financial transaction,

wherein the customer display interface allows customer input to be provided through contact with the customer touch screen,

a service provider (SP) station,

wherein the SP station includes a SP display interface,

wherein the SP display interface is spaced from the customer display interface,

wherein the SP display interface is in operative connection with the at least one computer,

wherein the SP display interface includes a SP touch screen,

 

wherein the SP display interface allows service provider input to be provided through contact with the SP touch screen,

 

wherein the SP touch screen is usable by a service provider to assist the customer in carrying out the financial transaction,

at least one communications arrangement link between the SP station and the customer station,

wherein the at least one communications arrangement link enables the service provider to cause

through contact with the SP touch screen while first transaction information is being displayed through the customer touch screen,

output being displayed through the customer touch screen to visually change to point out to the customer, a specific portion of the first transaction information while the first transaction information continues to be displayed through the customer touch screen.

6. The apparatus according to claim 5 and further comprising an automated banking machine,

wherein the machine includes the customer station,

wherein the machine includes a cash dispenser,

wherein the cash dispenser is operative to selectively dispense cash stored in the machine to authorized users of the machine,

wherein the machine includes at least one reader,

wherein the at least one reader is operative to read customer data usable to identify a financial account on which at least one financial transaction can be carried out.

7. The apparatus according to claim 5 wherein the SP station is spaced from the customer station.

8. The apparatus according to claim 7 wherein the SP station and the customer station are positioned inside of a banking facility, wherein the SP station is located a distance from the customer station.

9. The apparatus according to claim 7 wherein the at least one communications arrangement link enables audio communications between a service provider at the SP station and a customer at the customer station.

10. The apparatus according to claim 9 wherein the at least one communications arrangement link enables video communications between the service provider at the SP station and the customer at the customer station.

The apparatus according to claim 5 wherein the transaction arrangement comprises a plurality of customer stations, wherein each customer station includes a customer display interface, wherein each customer display interface is in operative connection with the at least one computer, wherein each customer display interface includes a customer touch screen,

wherein a service provider at the SP station is able to cause for each respective customer touch screen, a specific portion of transaction information being displayed through the respective customer touch screen to be pointed out to the respective customer.

12. The apparatus according to claim 5

wherein the at least one communication arrangement link enables the service provider through service provider input to the SP touch screen,

to display through the customer touch screen, output which points out which section of the customer touch screen to touch.

The apparatus according to claim 5 wherein the at least one communications arrangement link enables the service provider to add to the first transaction information being displayed through the customer touch screen, a pointer that points to the specific portion of the first transaction information.

14. The apparatus according to claim 5 wherein the at least one communications arrangement link enables the service provider to add to the first transaction information being displayed through the customer touch screen, a highlight of the specific portion of the first transaction information.

The apparatus according to claim 5 wherein the at least one communications arrangement link enables the service provider to add to the first transaction information being displayed through the customer touch screen, an arrow that indicates the specific portion of the first transaction information.

16. Apparatus comprising:

a transaction arrangement comprising;

at least one computer,

a customer station operable by a customer in carrying out a transaction,

wherein the customer station includes a customer display interface,

wherein the customer display interface includes a customer touch screen,

wherein the customer display interface is in operative connection with the at least one computer,

 

wherein the at least one computer is operable to cause transaction outputs to be displayed through the customer touch screen,

 

wherein the at least one computer is operable to receive customer inputs provided through contact with the customer touch screen,

a service provider (SP) station,

wherein the SP station includes a SP display interface,

wherein the SP display interface includes a SP touch screen,

wherein the SP display interface is in operative connection with the at least one computer,

 

wherein the at least one computer is operable to cause outputs to be displayed through the SP touch screen,

 

wherein the at least one computer is operable to receive SP inputs provided through contact with the SP touch screen,

 

wherein the at least one computer is operable to cause SP transaction assistance to be displayed through the customer touch screen, responsive to SP input provided through moving contact with the SP touch screen,

 

wherein the SP transaction assistance includes a displayed pointing out to the customer of at least one specific location on the customer touch screen.

17. The apparatus according to claim 16 wherein the SP station is spaced from the customer station.

18. The apparatus according to claim 17 wherein the SP station and the customer station are located inside of a banking facility,

wherein the transaction arrangement includes an audio communications link between the SP station and the customer station,

wherein the audio communications link allows two-way audio communication between a service provider at the SP station and a customer at the customer station.

19. The apparatus according to claim 16 wherein the displayed pointing out comprises a hand-drawn marking being displayed through the customer touch screen, wherein the marking corresponds to hand-thawing movement made in contacting engagement with the SP touch screen.

20. The apparatus according to claim 16 wherein the displayed pointing out of the at least one specific location on the customer touch screen includes at least one of:

a displayed pointer that points to a specific location on the customer touch screen;

a displayed highlight of a specific location on the customer touch screen; and

a displayed arrow that indicates a specific location on the customer touch screen.
