Abstract

In a client apparatus, when a request to install a program stored in a server is received, a dependence display creating unit acquires server program information including information indicating the program stored in the server and information indicating the dependence between the program and other programs, and acquires apparatus program information including information indicating a program installed in the client apparatus. The dependence display creating unit creates a display screen on the basis of the information indicating the dependence in the server program information such that the dependence between a program which is designated to be installed and other programs is clear. In addition, the dependence display creating unit displays information indicating an installed program among the programs to be installed, on the basis of the apparatus program information.

Claims

1. A program management system comprising:

a client; and

a server that is connected to the client through a network,

wherein the server includes;

a program storage unit that stores a program to be installed in the client; and

a first program information storage unit that stores first program information including information indicating the program stored in the program storage unit and information indicating dependence between the program stored in the program storage unit and other programs stored in the program storage unit, and

the client includes;

an input unit that receives a user input;

a second program information storage unit that stores second program information including information indicating an installed program and information indicating dependence between the installed program and other installed programs; and

a display screen creating unit that creates a display screen for displaying the dependence between the program stored in the program storage unit or the installed program and other programs, using at least one of the first program information and the second program information, according to the user input received by the input unit.

The program management system according to claim 1, wherein, when the input unit is used to designate the program which is downloaded from the server through the network and is then installed among the programs stored in the program storage unit, the display screen creating unit acquires the first program information from the first program information storage unit and acquires the second program information from the second program information storage unit through the network, and

the display screen creating unit creates the display screen for displaying the dependence between the program which is designated to be installed by the input unit and other programs, using the acquired first program information and second program information.

3. The program management system according to claim 2,

wherein the display screen creating unit determines whether there is an installed program among the programs other than the program which is designated to be installed by the input unit, on the basis of the second program information, and

when it is determined that there is an installed program, the display screen creating unit adds information indicating that there is an installed program to the display showing the dependence.

4. The program management system according to claim 1,

wherein, when the input unit is used to designate a program to be uninstalled among the installed programs, the display screen creating unit acquires the second program information from the second program information storage unit, and creates a display screen for displaying dependence between the program which is designated to be uninstalled by the input unit and other programs using the second program information.

5. The program management system according to claim 1,

wherein the display screen creating unit arranges the information indicating the program in a hierarchical structure according to the dependence between the program and other programs, thereby creating the display screen.

6. The program management system according to claim 1,

wherein the display screen creating unit arranges the information indicating the program in a tree structure according to the dependence between the program and other programs, thereby creating the display screen.

7. The program management system according to claim 1,

wherein the information indicating the dependence between the programs is obtained by associating information indicating a program with information indicating other programs required to execute the program.

8. A client comprising:

an input unit that receives a user input;

a program information storage unit that stores program information including information indicating an installed program and information indicating dependence between the installed program and other installed programs; and

a display screen creating unit that creates a display screen for displaying dependence between a program stored in a server or the installed program and other programs, using at least one of program information including information indicating the program which is stored in the server connected to a network and is to be installed according to the user input received by the input unit and information indicating dependence between the program stored in the server and other programs stored in the server, and the program information stored in the program information storage unit.

9. A computer program product comprising a computer usable medium having computer readable program codes embodied in the medium that when executed causes a computer to execute:

receiving a user input;

acquiring at least one of first program information including information indicating a program which is stored in a server connected to a network and is to be installed according to the user input received in the receiving the user input and information indicating dependence between the program and other programs, and second program information including information indicating a program installed according to the user input received in the receiving the user input and information indicating dependence between the installed program and other installed programs; and

creating a display screen for displaying dependence between the program stored in the server or the installed program and other programs using at least one of the first program information and the second program information acquired in the acquiring the at least one of the program information.
