Abstract

An herbicide/insecticide composition containing (a) a pyridine carboxylic acid component and (b) an insecticide component provides synergistic control of selected weeds.

Claims

1. A synergistic herbicide/insecticide mixture comprising an herbicidally effective amount of (a) a pyridine carboxylic acid herbicide of the formula (I)

3. The synergistic mixture of claim 1 or 2 additionally comprising an herbicide safener.

4. The synergistic mixture of claim 3 in which the herbicide safener is cloquintocet-mexyl.

5. The synergistic mixture of claim 1 or 2 in which the weight ratio of the pyridine carboxylic acid herbicide component to the insecticide component is between about 35:

1 and about 1;

1200.

6. An herbicidal composition comprising an herbicidally effective amount of the synergistic herbicide/insecticide mixture of claim 1 or 2 and an agriculturally acceptable adjuvant or carrier.

7. A method of controlling undesirable vegetation which comprises contacting the vegetation or the locus thereof with or applying to the soil or water to prevent the emergence or growth of vegetation an herbicidally effective amount the synergistic herbicide/insecticide mixture of claim 1 or 2.

8. A method of controlling undesirable vegetation in cereals which comprises contacting the vegetation or the locus thereof with or applying to the soil or water to prevent the emergence or growth of vegetation an herbicidally effective amount the synergistic herbicide/insecticide mixture of claim 1 or 2.

2. A synergistic herbicide/insecticide mixture comprising an herbicidally effective amount of (a) a pyridine carboxylic acid herbicide of the formula (I)
