Abstract

The present invention regards a guiding tool for neurosurgery. The guiding tool comprises subunits and a holder. The subunits are arranged in the holder so that holes for guiding a probe are created in the interface between said subunits, which allows easy release of the probe. The invention further regards a system for guiding neurosurgery probes.

Claims

1. A guiding tool (10) for guiding a probe (31) into tissue, comprising

a number of subunits (11,12,13), wherein each subunit along its edge is provided with an indentation, each subunit having a shape configured to fit in a predetermined configuration of the number of subunits, wherein

said configuration comprises a number of holes (15) formed by the indentations of said number of subunits and extending through said configuration.

2. The guiding tool (10) according to claim 1, wherein said configuration is attachable to a holder (24) by means of an attachment means (26).

3. The guiding tool according to claim 1, wherein the number of holes is five.

4. The guiding tool according to claim 1, wherein the number of subunits is three, and wherein the number of holes is five.

5. The guiding tool according to claim 1, wherein said number of subunits is six, and wherein the number of holes is five.

6. The guiding tool according to claim 1, wherein one indentation of a first subunit and one indentation of a second subunit forms one hole in said configuration.

7. The guiding tool (10) according to claim 1, wherein an indentation of a subunit constitutes less than half or less than 180°

of a hole in said configuration.

8. The guiding tool according to claim 2, wherein said holder is configured such that there is only one possible way, due to the shape of the subunits and the holder, to fit said subunits in said holder, rendering said configuration.

9. The guiding tool according to claim 1, wherein at least one subunit has an edge, which is perpendicular to a corda of a hole in said configuration.

10. The guiding tool according to claim 1, wherein said probe (31) is a deep brain stimulation probe.

11. A system (30) comprising a microdrive, and a guiding tool according to claim 1, wherein the guiding tool in use is placed in the microdrive for insertion of a probe (31) into tissue.
