Abstract

Embodiments of a multi-screen synchronous slide gesture are described. In various embodiments, a first motion input is recognized at a first screen of a multi-screen system, and the first motion input is recognized when moving in a particular direction across the first screen. A second motion input is recognized at a second screen of the multi-screen system, where the second motion input is recognized when moving in the particular direction across the second screen and approximately when the first motion input is recognized. A synchronous slide gesture can then be determined from the recognized first and second motion inputs.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

recognizing a first motion input at a first screen of a multi-screen system, the first motion input being recognized when moving in a particular direction across the first screen;

recognizing a second motion input at a second screen of the multi-screen system, the second motion input being recognized when moving in the particular direction across the second screen and approximately when the first motion input is recognized; and

determining a synchronous slide gesture from the recognized first and second motion inputs.

2. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is identified as a cross-screen combination of the first and second motion inputs.

3. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to move a displayed object from display on the first screen to display on the second screen.

4. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to replace one or more displayed objects on the first and second screens with different displayed objects.

5. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to move one or more displayed objects and reveal a workspace on the first and second screens.

6. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to cycle through one or more workspaces that are displayed on the first and second screens.

7. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to replace one or more applications on the first and second screens with different applications.

8. A multi-screen system, comprising:

at least a memory and a processor to implement a gesture module configured to determine a synchronous slide gesture from recognized motion inputs;

an input recognition system configured to;

recognize a first motion input at a first screen when the first motion input moves in a particular direction across the first screen; and

recognize a second motion input at a second screen when the second motion input moves in the particular direction across the second screen and approximately when the first motion input is recognized.

9. A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8, wherein the gesture module is further configured to identify the synchronous slide gesture as a cross-screen combination of the first and second motion inputs.

10. A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to move a displayed object from display on the first screen to display on the second screen.

11. A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to replace one or more displayed objects on the first and second screens with different displayed objects.

12. A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to move one or more displayed objects and reveal a workspace on the first and second screens.

13. A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to cycle through one or more workspaces that are displayed on the first and second screens.

14. A multi-screen system as recited in claim 8, wherein the synchronous slide gesture is effective to replace one or more applications on the first and second screens with different applications.

15. Computer-readable storage media comprising instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the instructions, a multi-screen system is initiated to:

recognize a first motion input at a first screen of the multi-screen system, the first motion input recognized when moving in a particular direction across the first screen;

recognize a second motion input at a second screen of the multi-screen system, the second motion input recognized when moving in the particular direction across the second screen and approximately when the first motion input is recognized; and

determine a synchronous slide gesture from the recognized first and second motion inputs.

Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to identify the synchronous slide gesture as a cross-screen combination of the first and second motion inputs.

Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to move a displayed object from display on the first screen to display on the second screen in response to the synchronous slide gesture.

Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to replace one or more displayed objects on the first and second screens with different displayed objects in response to the synchronous slide gesture.

19. Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to move one or more displayed objects and reveal a workspace on the first and second screens in response to the synchronous slide gesture.

20. Computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, further comprising additional instructions that are executable and, responsive to executing the additional instructions, the multi-screen system is further initiated to cycle through one or more workspaces that are displayed on the first and second screens in response to the synchronous slide gesture.
