Abstract

The invention relates to a body, particularly a molded body made of polystyrene, particularly polystyrene particle foam or polystyrene hard foam, wherein the polystyrene, particularly the polystyrene particle foam or the polystyrene hard foam, comprises petroleum coke, particularly petroleum coke particles.

Claims

1. Body, in particular, a molded body made of polystyrene, in particular, made of polystyrene particle foam or polystyrene hard foam,

characterized in that

the polystyrene, in particular the polystyrene particle foam or the polystyrene hard foam, contains petroleum coke, in particular petroleum coke particles.

2. Body, as claimed in claim 1,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke, in particular the petroleum coke particles, are distributed homogeneously in the polystyrene particle foam or the polystyrene hard foam.

3. Body, as claimed in claim 1 or 2,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke is a calcined petroleum coke.

4. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke consists of isotropic or anisotropic material.

5. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke is produced as needle coke.

6. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke particles or at least a part of the petroleum coke particles exhibit a platelet-like grain shape.

7. Body, as claimed any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke particles exhibit an average particle size of 1 μ

m to 50 μ

m, preferably of 1 μ

m to 10 μ

m.

8. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke particles were ground in delamination mills.

9. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke particles were ground in ball mills.

10. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke particles were ground in air jet mills.

11. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke particles exhibit an aspect ratio of 1 to 500, preferably 5 to 50.

12. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the petroleum coke content is in a range between 0.5% by weight and 10% by weight, based on the finished body.

13. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the body has a density of less than 40 kg/m³.

14. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the body has a coefficient of thermal conductivity ranging from 20 mW/(m·

K) to 40 mW/(m·

K), in particular from 25 mW/(m·

K) to 30 mW/(m·

K),

15. Body, as claimed in any one of the preceding claims,

characterized in that

the thermal conductivity of the body comprising petroleum coke is reduced by 25% to 35%, compared to a corresponding body without petroleum coke.
