1. An implantable recording device for detecting and logging neurological events comprising:

  • a sensor configured to generate an electrical signal indicative of neurological activity;

    an electronic module coupled to the sensor configured to detect and log neurological events in response to the generated electrical signal;

    a housing enclosing the electronic module and partially enclosing the sensor leaving a portion of the sensor exposed to receive the generated electrical signal; and

    a cushioning member including a top portion and a bottom portion and partially surrounding the housing therebetween, the top portion holding the housing spaced apart from and above the bottom portion, the cushioning member adapted to be oriented with the bottom portion adjacent the cranium of a human patient so that when the implantable recording device is implanted, the housing is spaced apart from the cranium and the exposed portion of the sensor can be brought into contact with a body surface to sense neurological activity therethrough the sensor.
