Abstract

A matching system can provide matching services to users of cloud computing environments. The matching system can receive user requests for sets of services. Once received, the matching system can collect information about available cloud appliances. The matching system can match the cloud appliances with the user requested services and provide the user with information related to available cloud appliances that meet the user'"'"'s request.

Claims

1. A method for matching resource requests with cloud computing environments, comprising:

receiving, from a user, a request to instantiate a set of services in a cloud;

collecting information about available cloud appliances;

matching the requested set of services to at least one of the available cloud appliances based on the collected information; and

providing the information about the matched at least one available cloud appliance to the user.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein collecting information about available cloud appliances comprises:

accessing at least one database comprising a catalog of available cloud appliances and corresponding costs provided by a cloud provider.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving the request to instantiate a set of services comprises:

receiving a request to instantiate a set of services based on a deployment recommended configuration for the set of services.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving a request to instantiate the set of services comprises:

receiving information corresponding to at least one of a previously purchased license, resource credit, or subscription.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein receiving information corresponding to the at least one previously purchase license, resource credit, or subscription comprises an on-premise license or subscription.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein matching the requested set of services to at least one of the available cloud appliances based on the collected information further comprises:

comparing the resource requirements of the at least one previously purchased license, resource credit, or subscription to the resources of the available cloud appliances; and

identifying at least one combination of cloud appliances that meets the resource requirements of the at least one previously purchased license, resource credit, or subscription.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

instantiating the requested set of services in the matched at least one available cloud appliance.

8. A method for matching resource requests with cloud computing environments, comprising:

sending, from a user, a request to instantiate a set of services;

receiving information about at least one available cloud appliance matching the requested set of services; and

selecting the at least one available cloud appliance to instantiate.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein sending the request for a set of services comprises:

collecting recommended deployment options for the set of services; and

sending the collected recommended deployment options.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein sending the request for a set of services comprises:

collecting information corresponding to at least one previously purchased license resource credit, or subscription; and

sending the collected information.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the collecting information corresponds to an on-premise license, resource credit, or subscription.

12. A system for matching resource requests in a cloud computing environment, comprising:

a network interface to at least one cloud computing system; and

a processor communicating with the network interface and executing a matching module, the matching module configured to;

receive, from a user, a request to instantiate a set of services;

collect information about available cloud appliances;

match the requested set of services to at least one of the available cloud appliances based on the collected information; and

provide the information about the matched at least one available cloud appliance to the user.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the collecting information about available cloud appliances comprises:

accessing at least one database comprising a catalog of available cloud appliances and corresponding costs provided by a cloud provider.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein receiving a request to instantiate a set of services comprises:

receiving a request for a set of services based on a deployment recommended configuration.

15. The system of claim 12, wherein receiving a request to instantiate a set of services comprises:

receiving information corresponding to at least one previously purchased license, resource credit, or subscription.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein receiving information corresponding to the at least one previously purchase license, resource credit, or subscription comprises an on-premise license, resource credit, or subscription.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein matching the requested set of services to at least one of the available cloud appliances based on the collected information further comprises:

comparing the resource requirements of the at least one previously purchased license, resource credit, or subscription to the resources of the available cloud appliances; and

identifying at least one combination of cloud appliances that meets the resource requirements of the at least one previously purchased license, resource credit, or subscription.

18. The system of claim 12, wherein the matching module is further configured to:

instantiating the matched at least one available cloud appliance.
