Abstract

A position of a viewing point within a plurality of layers of a composition is received. Of the plurality of layers, at least a layer that is immediately adjacent to the viewing point is displayed. Those layers, if any, that are on the opposite side of the viewing point as the displayed layer(s) are not displayed.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving at a processor a position of a viewing point within a plurality of layers of a composition;

if a direction of the viewing point is down;

of the plurality of layers, displaying at least a layer that is immediately below the viewing point, wherein those layers that are above the viewing point are not displayed; and

if a direction of the viewing point is up;

of the plurality of layers, displaying at least a layer that is immediately above the viewing point, wherein those layers that are below the viewing point are not displayed.

2. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein if the direction of the viewing point is down, all layers below the viewing point are displayed and if the direction of the viewing point is up, all layers above the viewing point are displayed.

A method as recited in claim 1, wherein if the direction of the viewing point is down, all layers below the viewing point that are not in a hidden state are displayed and if the direction of the viewing point is up, all layers above the viewing point that are not in a hidden state are displayed.

4. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the displayed layer is set to be an editing layer and the viewing point is moveable to enable editing.

5. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising:

receiving a modification to be performed associated with the displayed layer(s); and

performing the modification to the displayed layer(s).

6. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein receiving the indication includes receiving a selection from a graphical user interface.

7. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein receiving the indication includes receiving a sequence of inputs associated with a particular one of the plurality of layers.

8. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein receiving the indication includes receiving a simultaneous combination of inputs associated with a particular one of the plurality of layers.

9. A method as recited in claim 1, further comprising displaying an indication associated with the position of the viewing point.

10. A method as recited in claim 9, wherein the indication includes a layer stack with a highlighted layer.

11. A method as recited in claim 9, wherein the indication includes a layer stack with an icon representing the viewing point.

12. A method as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a new position for the viewing point; and

displaying at least a layer that is immediately adjacent to the new position of the viewing point, wherein those layers that are on the opposite side of the new position of the viewing point are not displayed.

13. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory is configured to provide the processor with instructions which when executed cause the processor to;

receive a position of a viewing point within a plurality of layers of a composition if a direction of the viewing point is down;

of the plurality of layers, display at least a layer that is immediately below the viewing point, wherein those layers that are above the viewing point are not displayed; and

if a direction of the viewing point is up;

of the plurality of layers, display at least a layer that is immediately above the viewing point, wherein those layers that are below the viewing point are not displayed.

14. A system as recited in claim 13, wherein if the direction of the viewing point is down, all layers below the viewing point are displayed and if the direction of the viewing point is up, all layers above the viewing point are displayed.

15. A system as recited in claim 13, wherein if the direction of the viewing point is down, all layers below the viewing point that are not in a hidden state are displayed and if the direction of the viewing point is up, all layers above the viewing point that are not in a hidden state are displayed.

16. A system as recited in claim 13, further comprising displaying an indication associated with the position of the viewing point.

17. A computer program product, the computer program product being embodied in a non-transitory computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

receiving at a processor a position of a viewing point within a plurality of layers of a composition;

if a direction of the viewing point is down;

of the plurality of layers, displaying at least a layer that is immediately below the viewing point, wherein those layers that are above the viewing point are not displayed; and

if a direction of the viewing point is up;

of the plurality of layers, displaying at least a layer that is immediately above the viewing point, wherein those layers that are below the viewing point are not displayed.

18. A computer program product as recited in claim 17, wherein if the direction of the viewing point is down, all layers below the viewing point are displayed and if the direction of the viewing point is up, all layers above the viewing point are displayed.

19. A computer program product as recited in claim 17, wherein if the direction of the viewing point is down, all layers below the viewing point that are not in a hidden state are displayed and if the direction of the viewing point is up, all layers above the viewing point that are not in a hidden state are displayed.

20. A computer program product as recited in claim 17, further comprising computer instructions for displaying an indication associated with the position of the viewing point.
