An electronic system, comprising a reader, a common radiation receiving device, and a plurality of remotely powered and remotely interrogated transponders, wherein all of said transponders are connected to said common radiation receiving device, wherein each of said transponders is powered with energy derived from radiation received by said common radiation receiving device, wherein each of said transponders has an address, and wherein each of said transponders has a system to transmit data so as to avoid collisions.
