Abstract

A telephone for printing an encoded form on print media is provided having a printer for printing the form encoded with region data on the print media, a transport path along which the print media is transported during printing, an interface to a remote server, and a sensor on the transport path for sensing identifiers encoded on the print media and generating an association between the sensed identifiers and the region data. The generated association is transmitted to the remote server via the interface such that user interaction with the regions of the identified printed form communicated to the remote server provide selection of the region data.

Claims

1. A telephone for printing an encoded form on print media, the telephone comprising:

a printer for printing the form encoded with region data on the print media;

a transport path along which the print media is transported during printing;

an interface to a remote server; and

a sensor on the transport path for sensing identifiers encoded on the print media and generating an association between the sensed identifiers and the region data,

wherein the generated association is transmitted to the remote server via the interface such that user interaction with the regions of the identified printed form communicated to the remote server provide selection of the region data.

A telephone as claimed in claim 1, wherein the region data is encoded in a linear pattern on the print media and the transport path and the sensor are configured such that the linear pattern extends in a direction parallel to the transport direction and the sensor senses the linear pattern prior to printing with the printer.

A telephone as claimed in claim 1, wherein the region data comprises first coded data in a first format and second coded data in a second format, the first coded data encoding first information and the second coded data encoding second information, at least some of the first information being indicative of the identifier, the first format being a linear pattern, at least some of the second information being indicative of the identifier and of a two-dimensional coordinate grid, the second format being a two-dimensional pattern, and the sensor is configured to sense coded data in both the first format and the second format.
