Abstract

The disclosure herein provides methods, systems, and devices for managing, transferring, modifying, converting and/or tracking medical files and/or medical system messages. In certain embodiments, the foregoing may generally be based on requesting medical files at a first medical facility, identifying the requested medical files at a second medical facility, initiating a secure network connection between the first and second medical facility, modifying a header portion of the medical files based on patient identification information created by the first medical facility, and other processing steps.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

obtaining access to a first electronic medical file stored in a source computing system, the first electronic medical file including a first identifier associated with a patient;

modifying the first electronic medical file by adjusting the first identifier associated with the patient in the first electronic medical file so as to correspond to a second identifier associated with the patient stored in a destination computer system; and

providing the modified first electronic medical file to a computing device of the destination computer system, the computing device of the destination computing system configured to cause display of the modified first electronic medical file to a user in conjunction with a second electronic medical file including the second identifier associated with the patient, the second electronic medical file stored in the destination computer system;

wherein the method is performed by one or more configured computing devices.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the source computing system is configured to perform the modifying.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the destination computing system is configured to perform the modifying.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein a central server is configured to perform the modifying, the central server being separate from both the source computing system and the destination computing system.

The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the computing device of the destination computer system is configured to display an electronic medical file based on matching identifiers from a different patient identification system than an identification system of the destination computing system.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising generating a list of identifiers associated with the patient at a plurality medical facilities, and wherein the modifying is based on the generated list of identifiers associated with the patient.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising updating the electronic medical file to make the electronic medical file compatible with the destination computer system.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the identifier associated with the patient stored in the destination computer system is included in a header of another electronic medical file, and wherein the another electronic medical file is in a format that is incompatible with the source computer system.

9. A system comprising:

a data store to store electronic medical files; and

one or more configured computer systems in communication with the data store, the one or more configured computer systems operative to;

obtain access to an electronic medical file stored in a source computing system, the electronic medical file including an identifier associated with a patient;

update the electronic medical file by adjusting the identifier associated with the patient in the electronic medical file so as to correspond to an identifier associated with the patient stored in a destination computer system; and

cause transmission of the updated electronic medical file from the data store to a computing device of the destination computer system via a network.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the source computing system includes the one or more configured computer systems, and wherein the source computing system uses a different identifier for the patient than the destination computing system.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein the destination computing system is operative to update the electronic medical file by adjusting the identifier.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein a central server includes the one or more configured computer systems.

13. The system of claim 9, wherein the source computing system uses a different patient identification system than the destination computing system.

14. The system of claim 9, wherein the one or more configured computer systems are further operative to generate a list of identifiers associated with the patient at a plurality medical facilities, and wherein adjusting the identifier is based on the generated list of identifiers associated with the patient.

15. The system of claim 9, wherein electronic medical files in the source computing system and electronic medical files in the destination computing system are incompatible, and wherein the one or more configured computer systems are further operative to update the electronic medical file to make the electronic medical file compatible with the destination computer system.

16. The system of claim 9, wherein the identifier associated with the patient stored in the destination computer system is included in a header of another electronic medical file, and wherein the another electronic medical file is in a format that is incompatible with the source computer system.

17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that when executed perform a method, the method comprising:

obtaining access to an electronic medical file stored in a source computing system, the electronic medical file including a first identifier associated with a patient;

obtaining access to another electronic medical file stored in a destination computing system, the another electronic medical file including a second identifier associated with the patient;

modifying at least one of the first identifier of the electronic medical file and the second identifier of the another electronic medical file, such that the first identifier and the second identifier match in the destination computer system; and

providing the modified electronic medical file to a computing device of the destination computer system, the computing device of the destination computing system configured to display the modified electronic medical file based at least in part on the identifier of the electronic medical file and the another electronic medical file.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the destination computing system is configured to perform the modifying.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the source computing system is configured to perform the modifying.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17, wherein a central server is configured to perform the modifying, the central server being separate from both the source computing system and the destination computing system.
