Abstract

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a controller can be operable to generate a target list of subscribers by filtering a list of potential target users of an application existing on a source device by removing target subscribers from the target list of subscribers according to selection criteria. The controller can be further operable to transmit to devices of the target list of subscribers content associated with the application that when accessed invites the target list of subscribers to use the application, and to provision the application on at least one device associated with the target list of subscribers. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

compiling a list of potential target users of an application existing on a user device of a source subscriber;

generating a target list of subscribers by filtering the list of potential target users, wherein the list of potential target users is filtered by removing target subscribers from the target list of subscribers who do not have an association with the source subscriber; and

transmitting to devices of the target list of subscribers content associated with the application that when accessed invites the target list of subscribers to use the application existing on the user device of the source subscriber in devices of the target list of subscribers.

2. The method of claim 1, comprising further filtering the list of potential target users according to at least one of target subscriber subscription information, target subscriber device capability, and target subscriber identity module capability.

3. The method of claim 1, comprising filtering the list of potential target users based on target subscriber subscription information by comparing information from the user device of the source subscriber with information on an enterprise directory.

4. The method of claim 1, comprising filtering the list of potential target users based on target subscriber device capability by comparing information from the user device of the source subscriber with information on a device list on a remote server.

5. The method of claim 1, comprising filtering the list of potential target users based on target subscriber identity module capability by comparing information from the user device of the source subscriber with information on a remote server containing subscriber identity module capability.

6. The method of claim 1, comprising notifying a target user on the target list of subscribers using a short messaging service message after the application is provisioned on a device associated with the target user.

7. The method of claim 6, comprising notifying the user device of the source subscriber after the application is provisioned on a device associated with a target user.

8. A computer-readable storage medium, comprising computer instructions to:

compile a list of potential target users of a multimedia application existing on a source device;

generate a target list of subscribers by filtering the list of potential target users, wherein the list of potential target users is filtered by removing target subscribers from the target list of subscribers who do not have an association with the source device; and

provision the multimedia application on at least one of the devices of the target list of subscribers.

9. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, comprising computer instructions to transmit to devices of the target list of subscribers content associated with the multimedia application that when accessed invites the target list of subscribers to use the multimedia application existing on the source device.

10. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the multimedia application is a pay-per-use service application.

11. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, comprising computer instructions to:

filter the list of potential target users based on target subscriber information by comparing information from the source device with information on an enterprise directory;

filter the list of potential target users based on target subscriber device capability by comparing information from the source device with information on device list on a first remote server; and

filter the list of potential target users based on target subscriber identity module capability by comparing information from the source device with information on a second remote server containing subscriber identity module capability for potential target users.

12. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, comprising computer instructions to notify a target user device on the target list of subscribers before the multimedia application is provisioned on the target user device.

13. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, comprising computer instructions to notify a target user device on the target list of subscribers after the multimedia application is provisioned on the target user device.

14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, comprising computer instructions to notify the source device after the multimedia application is provisioned on the target user device.

15. A system, comprising:

a memory device; and

a controller coupled to the memory device, wherein the controller is operable to;

generate a target list of subscribers by filtering a list of potential target users of an application existing on a source device, wherein the list of potential target users is filtered by removing target subscribers from the target list of subscribers according to selection criteria;

transmit to devices of the target list of subscribers content associated with the application that when accessed invites the target list of subscribers to use the application; and

provision the application on at least one device associated with the target list of subscribers.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the application is an internet protocol multimedia subsystem application for sharing at least one of video and audio.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the memory device comprises at least one of target subscriber subscription information, target subscriber device capability, and subscriber identity module capability for potential target users.

18. The system of claim 15, wherein the controller is operable to detect potential target users from one of a source subscriber phonebook, a recent call list, a frequent caller list, and a social networking list stored on the source device.

19. The system of claim 15, wherein the controller is operable to filter the target list of potential target users by removing target subscribers from the target list of subscribers who do not have an association with the source device.

20. The system of claim 15, wherein the controller is operable to filter the target list of potential target users according to at least one of target subscriber subscription information, target subscriber device capability, and target subscriber identity module capability.
