Abstract

Methods and apparatuses of a trusted index structure in a network environment. In one embodiment, a data processing system includes a master device and at least one slave device to communicate with each other through a network; and a master lock status of a shared storage device to determine the master device.

Claims

1. The method of shared storage device, comprising:

determining that there are multiple sessions associated with a profile of a master device; and

segregating each session of the multiple sessions in a master list of changes by identifying each session based on unique identifiers associated with each of the multiple sessions.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining that one of a plurality of clients associated with the shared storage device is a master device based on an algorithm chosen from a group comprising at least one of a heartbeat messaging algorithm, a first in time assertion algorithm, and a preferred client analysis.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the master device further comprising intermittently transmitting a master list of changes to the shared storage device to replace a trusted index of the shared storage device.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising notifying a plurality of client devices coupled to the shared access device when a change-list entry is received by the shared storage device from at least one of the plurality of client devices.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the master list of changes includes changes in meta-data and content.

6. A machine-readable medium having instructions to cause a machine to perform a machine-implemented method of shared storage device, comprising:

determining that there are multiple sessions associated with a profile of a master device; and

segregating each session of the multiple sessions in a master list of changes by identifying each session based on unique identifiers associated with each of the multiple sessions.

7. An apparatus of shared storage device, comprising:

means for determining that there are multiple sessions associated with a profile of a master device; and

means for segregating each session of the multiple sessions in a master list of changes by identifying each session based on unique identifiers associated with each of the multiple sessions.

8. A system of shared storage device comprising:

a processing unit connected to a memory through a bus; and

a process executed from memory by said processing unit to cause said processing unit to;

determine that there are multiple sessions associated with a profile of a master device; and

segregate each session of the multiple sessions in a master list of changes by identifying each session based on unique identifiers associated with each of the multiple sessions.
