Abstract

A system and method for automated fantasy drafting are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving one or more user-defined rules with respect to a list of players, wherein each player on the list is associated with one or more characteristics from a set of predefined characteristics and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic and selecting a player from the list of players satisfying the one or more user-defined rules.

Claims

1. A method of selecting a player in a fantasy draft, the method comprising:

receiving one or more user-defined rules with respect to a list of players, wherein each player on the list is associated with one or more characteristics from a set of predefined characteristics and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic; and

selecting, in an electronic device, a player from the list of players satisfying the one or more user-defined rules.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the characteristic is a player position.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein selecting is performed for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic for a particular round.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein selecting is performed for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a maximum number of players associated with a particular characteristic to be selected during the multiple rounds.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein selecting is performed for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a minimum number of players associated with a particular characteristic to be selected during the multiple rounds.

6. A method of selecting a player in a fantasy draft, the method comprising:

receiving one or more user-defined rules with respect to a list of players, wherein each player on the list is associated with one or more statistic values for a respective one or more statistics and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular statistic; and

selecting, in an electronic device, a player from the list of players satisfying the one or more user-defined rules.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein selecting is performed for multiple rounds, and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular statistic for a particular round.

8. A system for selecting a player on a fantasy draft, the system comprising:

a network interface configured to receive one or more user-defined rules with respect to a list of players, wherein each player on the list is associated with one or more characteristics from a set of predefined characteristics and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic; and

a processor configured to select a player from the list of players satisfying the one or more user-defined rules.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the characteristic is a player position.

10. The system of claim 8, further comprising a memory configured to store the list of players.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor is configured to select players for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic for a particular round.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor is configured to select players for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a maximum number of players associated with a particular characteristic to be selected during the multiple rounds.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor is configured to select players for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a minimum number of players associated with a particular characteristic to be selected during the multiple rounds.

14. A system for selecting a player in a fantasy draft, the system comprising:

means for receiving one or more user-defined rules with respect to a list of players, wherein each player on the list is associated with one or more characteristics from a set of predefined characteristics and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic; and

means for selecting a player from the list of players satisfying the one or more user-defined rules.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the characteristic is a player position.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the means for selecting comprises means for selecting players for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic for a particular round.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the means for selecting comprises means for selecting players for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a maximum number of players associated with a particular characteristic to be selected during the multiple rounds.

18. The system of claim 14, wherein the means for selecting comprises means for selecting players for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a minimum number of players associated with a particular characteristic to be selected during the multiple rounds.

19. A computer-readable medium having instructions encoded thereon which, when executed by a processor, cause an apparatus to perform a method of selecting a player in a fantasy draft, the method comprising:

receiving one or more user-defined rules with respect to a list of players, wherein each player on the list is associated with one or more characteristics from a set of predefined characteristics and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic; and

selecting a player from the list of players satisfying the one or more user-defined rules.

20. The computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the characteristic is a player position.

21. The computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein selecting is performed for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a particular characteristic for a particular round.

22. The computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein selecting is performed for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a maximum number of players associated with a particular characteristic to be selected.

23. The computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein selecting is performed for multiple rounds and wherein at least one of the user-defined rules specifies a minimum number of players associated with a particular characteristic to be selected.
