Abstract

There is provided a monitoring apparatus including a monitoring unit that monitors an operating situation of nodes over a network based on a predetermined monitoring parameter, a memory that records the operating situation monitored by the monitoring unit, and a changing unit that changes the monitoring parameters based on a past operating situation recorded by the memory.

Claims

1. A monitoring apparatus comprising:

a monitoring unit that monitors an operating situation of nodes over a network based on a predetermined monitoring parameter;

a memory that records the operating situation monitored by the monitoring unit; and

a changing unit that changes the monitoring parameters based on a past operating situation recorded by the memory.

2. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the monitoring unit uses a plurality of network protocols to monitor the operating situation of the nodes, respectively, and

the memory records monitoring results obtained by using the network protocols in association with the network protocols, respectively,

the apparatus further comprising:

a protocol selecting unit that selects a network protocol to be used for monitoring based on the monitoring results recoded in association with the network protocols, respectively, the monitoring unit using the network protocol selected by the protocol selecting unit for monitoring.

3. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the protocol selecting unit decides the order of network protocols for each node based on the monitoring results recorded by the memory, and

the monitoring unit monitors an operating situation of each node while changing a network protocol according to the order decided for each node.

4. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the protocol selecting unit decides the order of network protocols to be applied to a plurality of nodes based on the monitoring results on the nodes, and

the monitoring unit monitors the operating situation of the nodes while changing a network protocol according to the order decided for the nodes.

The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the monitoring parameter includes at least a monitoring interval, timeout duration for monitoring call, a monitoring call retry frequency when a timeout occurs for monitoring call, a predetermined protocol monitoring order, and a monitoring time zone.

6. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the changing unit proposes a user to exclude a time zone for which all the protocols were not repeatedly used predetermined times in the past from the monitoring time zone based on the operating situation recorded by the memory.

7. A monitoring apparatus comprising:

a setting unit that sets a monitoring parameter in association with each time zone;

a monitoring unit that monitors an operating situation of nodes over a network according to the monitoring parameter for each time zone set by the setting unit; and

a memory that records the operating situation monitored by the monitoring unit.

8. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 7, further comprising:

a changing unit that changes a monitoring parameter for each time zone based on a past operating situation recorded by the memory.

9. A monitoring method comprising:

monitoring an operating situation of nodes over a network based on a predetermined monitoring parameter;

recording the monitored situation; and

changing the monitoring parameter based on the recorded situation.

10. A computer readable medium storing a program to execute a process for monitoring, the process comprising:

monitoring an operating situation of nodes over a network based on a predetermined monitoring parameter;

recording the monitored situation; and

changing the monitoring parameter based on the recorded situation.
