Abstract

A non-contact power transmission apparatus accurately determines the kind of object that is placed on the charging deck of the non-contact power transmission apparatus, and, only when a non-contact power receiving apparatus is placed on the power transmission apparatus, allows power transmission and data communication to take place, thereby accurately determining the state of the receiver side and efficiently controlling the transmission of power. In the power transmission apparatus, the power supplied to the non-contact power receiving apparatus is measured, and the output power of the wireless power signal output from two different cores is controlled, thereby allowing the charging operation to be stably conducted even if the non-contact power receiving apparatus is moved anywhere on the power transmission apparatus. The power transmission apparatus improves both the reliability of operation of the non-contact charging system, and the competitiveness of related products, such as portable terminals, battery packs and the like.

16. A non contact power transmission apparatus comprising:

a board comprising a control module;

a shielding plate disposed on the board; and

a primary core located on the shielding plate and configured to electrically connect to the control module, the primary core comprising a first power transmission core and a second power transmission core,

wherein an overlapping region is formed between the first power transmission core and the second power transmission core.

17. The apparatus of claim 16, further comprising a first body case housing the board, the shielding plate, and the first and second power transmission cores, wherein a fitting is formed at one side of the first body case.

18. The apparatus of claim 17, further comprising a sub non-contact power transmission apparatus configured to be inserted into the fitting.

19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the sub non-contact power transmission apparatus comprises:

a sub board comprising a sub control module;

a sub shielding plate disposed on the sub board;

a sub first power transmission core and sub second power transmission core, each located on the sub shielding plate and configured to electrically connect to the sub control module; and

a second body case housing the sub board, the sub shielding plate, and the sub first and second power transmission cores.

20. The apparatus of claim 19, wherein the second body case is slidably inserted into the fitting.

21. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the first body case comprises a rectangular flat board, and the fitting is formed at one long side thereof.

22. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising a light emitting element installed on a side of the first body case for indicating a charging state of a wireless power receiving device placed on a main surface of the first body case.

23. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising a light emitting element installed on a side of the second body case for indicating a charging state of a wireless power receiving device placed on a main surface of the second body case.

24. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the control module is configured to transmit an ID requesting signal to an object placed adjacent the primary core via the first and second power transmission cores, transmit the wireless power signal via the primary core to the object if an ID response signal is received in response to the ID requesting signal.

25. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein the control module is configured to transmit the wireless power signal via the first and the second power transmission cores such that the sum of output voltages of the first and second power transmission cores is the same as a predetermined value.

26. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein the control module is configured to transmit a header ID requesting signal via the primary core, and to transmit a full ID requesting signal if a header ID is received from a wireless power receiving device.

The apparatus of claim 24, wherein, the control module is configured to receive a pulse signal from the wireless power receiving device and to control an intensity of the wireless power signal based on the pulse signal, the pulse signal being generated by comparing the wireless power signal with a predetermined voltage.

28. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein the pulse signal comprises any one of a power-off code, a gauge code, a power-up code, and a power-down code.

29. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the first body case is a support of a monitor.

30. The apparatus of claim 17, further comprising a connection terminal installed at one side of the first body case and configured to be coupled to a connection port of a lap-top computer.

31. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the width of the overlapping region is greater than the width of a secondary core of the power receiving device.
