Abstract
An integrated medical software system with custom reporting is disclosed. The system comprises a database that stores clinical data, scheduling data, patient data, and financial data in a normalized data format; a clinical module that creates an electronic document and that captures clinical data in the electronic document in the normalized data format during an encounter with a patient; a scheduling module that captures scheduling data in the normalized data format and that schedules the patient and at least one of a clinician, a staff member, and equipment at a healthcare provider using the scheduling data and the patient data; an account management module that captures financial data in the normalized data format and that creates at least one of a bill, a claim, or a statement for the patient using the financial data and the clinical data; a reports component with multiple filter and sort options that are defined by a user of the system to generate custom reports that display the clinical data, the scheduling data, the patient data, and the financial data in various customized combinations according to the filter and sort options that are chosen to generate the custom reports; and a framework module that is integrated with the clinical module, the scheduling module, the account management module, and the reports component using a common architecture and that supports an exchange of the clinical data, the scheduling data, the patient data, and the financial data between those modules, the reports component, and the database in the normalized data format, wherein the filter and sort options corresponding to a custom report can be saved for future use in generating custom reports.

74. A method for generating custom reports with an integrated medical software system, said method being embodied on a processor-executable medium and said integrated medical software system having a processor that executes the method to perform the steps of:
-
providing functionality for a user of the system to create an electronic document prior to an encounter with a patient; scheduling the patient and at least one of a clinician, a staff member, and equipment for the encounter with the patient using scheduling data and patient data; pre-populating the electronic document with at least a portion of the patient data; capturing the scheduling data in the normalized data format when the encounter with the patient is scheduled; capturing clinical data for the patient in the electronic document in a normalized data format during the encounter with the patient; creating at least one of a bill, a claim, or a statement for the patient using financial data and the clinical data; capturing the financial data in the normalized data format when the at least one of a bill, a claim, or a statement is created; storing the scheduling data, the patient data, the clinical data, and the financial data in a database in the normalized data format as that data is captured; using multiple filter and sort options that are defined by the user to generate custom reports that display the clinical data, the scheduling data, the patient data, and the financial data in various customized combinations according to the filter and sort options that are chosen to generate the custom reports; and saving the filter and sort options chosen to generate a custom report for future use in generating other custom reports, wherein the system is built on a common architecture to support an exchange of the clinical data, the scheduling data, the patient data, and the financial data in the normalized data format as required to perform each of the steps. - View Dependent Claims (75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84)
