Abstract

Systems and methods are illustrated for transitioning data from one data store to another data store. The transition may occur according to comparison information received through a graphical user interface. For example, the comparison information may map data or columns in a source data store to data or columns in a target data store. A score may also be generated based on a comparison of the source and target. A report may indicate a successful or failed data transition based on the score.

Claims

1. A tangible computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that when executed cause a system to perform steps comprising:

receiving a source identifier of a source data store;

receiving a target identifier of a target data store;

displaying a graphical user interface configured to receive comparison information, where the comparison information comprises at least a first data identifier and a second data identifier of the source data store, a first column identifier and a second column identifier of the target data store, and a mapping among the identifiers;

transitioning data from the source data store to the target data store according to the comparison information;

generating a score based on a comparison of the source data store to the target data store according to the comparison information;

determining whether the score meets a predetermined comparison parameter; and

generating a success report when the score meets the predetermined comparison parameter.

2. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, where the source data store includes a data file and the target data store is a part of a database system.

3. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, where data corresponding to the first column identifier of the target data store is a function of data corresponding to the first data identifier and the second data identifier of the source data store.

4. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, where the function is a mathematical sum.

5. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, where the predetermined comparison parameter is a threshold value.

6. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, where the predetermined comparison parameter is a percentage of change value.

7. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, where the first column identifier and the second column identifier of the target data store correspond to different relational tables of the target data store.

8. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, where the first data identifier corresponds to a last-updated date in the source data store, and the second data identifier corresponds to customer data in the source data store, and where the transitioning step includes:

copying customer data from the source data store to the target data store when the last-updated date is more recent than a predetermined date.

9. A method comprising:

connecting to a source database system;

connecting to a target database system;

using comparison information to identify a mapping of at least a first column identifier of the source database system to at least a second column identifier of the target database system;

retrieving data from the source database system and the target database system to a local data store, according to the comparison information;

generating, using an electronic processor, a score based on a comparison of the source database system to the target database system according to the comparison information;

determining whether the score meets a predetermined comparison threshold value; and

generating, using the processor, a failure report when the score fails to meet the predetermined comparison threshold value.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

transitioning data from the source database system to the target database system according to the comparison information;

11. The method of claim 10, where the transitioning step includes:

applying a function to data corresponding to the first column identifier of the source database system; and

copying the data resulting from the applying step to the target database system.

12. The method of claim 11, where the function is a conversion from a first currency to a second currency.

13. The method of claim 11, where the function is a conversion from a first formatting to a second formatting.

14. The method of claim 10, where the first column identifier corresponds to a last-updated date in the source database system, and where the transitioning step includes:

copying customer data from the source database system to the target database system when the last-updated date is more recent than a predetermined date.

15. The method of claim 10, where the source database system and the target database system are a single database system.

16. A system comprising at least a processor, an output device, and a memory storing computer-executable instructions that when executed by the processor, cause the system to perform steps comprising:

connecting to a source database system;

connecting to a target database system;

transitioning data from the source database system to the target database system according to a mapping of at least a first column identifier of the source database system to at least a second column identifier of the target database system;

generating, using the processor, a score based on an analysis of the source database system compared to the target database system after the transitioning step;

determining whether the score meets a predetermined comparison parameter; and

generating, using the processor, a successful report when the score meets the predetermined comparison parameter.

17. The system of claim 16, where the predetermined comparison parameter is a threshold value.

18. The system of claim 16, where the predetermined comparison parameter is a percentage of change value.

19. The system of claim 16, where the first column identifier corresponds to a last-updated date in the source database system, and where the transitioning step includes:

copying customer data from the source database system to the target database system when the last-updated date is more recent than a predetermined date.

20. The system of claim 16, where the transitioning step includes:

applying a function to the data identified from the source database system; and

copying the data resulting from the applying step to the target database system,

where the function is a conversion from a first currency to a second currency.
