Abstract

An interface component for engaging an arrow tip to the leading end of an arrow shaft. The device directs impact forces axially and eliminates the shearing and wall collapse of arrow shafts caused by conventional collared arrow head engagement devices which tend to collapse and cut the leading edge of arrow shafts on hard impacts. Engagement to the arrow shaft leading end is provided by an elongated member axially engaged with the bore of the arrow shaft. The exterior surface of the device can be surfaced to interact with passing air during flight of the arrow and increase spin for better accuracy.

Claims

1. An apparatus for engagement of an arrow tip to the leading end of an arrow shaft comprising;

a body, said body having a center axis and having a diameter determining an exterior circumference, said body having a first end extending a body length to a second end;

an elongated member extending along said axis from said second end of said body, said member extending a distance to a distal end of said member, said member having a member diameter;

means for engaging an arrow tip to said first end of said body;

said member diameter sized equal to or slightly smaller than a bore diameter of an axial bore defined by an interior surface of a surrounding wall forming said arrow shaft; and

said member diameter when engaged to an as-used position within said axial bore, providing means to engage said body to said leading end of said arrow shaft.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, additionally comprising:

said distance of said member being between 1 to 4 times said body length; and

said member in said as-used position projecting substantially said member distance along said axial bore, providing means to reinforce said surrounding wall at said leading edge of said arrow shaft from a shearing or bend upon an impact of said arrow head.

3. The apparatus of claim 2, additionally comprising:

said member in said as-used position concurrently directing a majority of a force communicated from said impact of said arrow head, to said arrow shaft, along a trajectory substantially aligned with said axial bore, said trajectory providing means to evenly distribute said force along said surrounding wall and prevent said bend or said shearing at said leading edge.

4. An apparatus of claim 1 wherein said means for engaging an arrow tip to said first end of said body comprises:

an axial passage defined by a sidewall, said axial passage communicating at said first end;

said axial passage having a threaded interior surface portion; and

said threaded surface portion configured for a cooperative engagement with a threaded member extending from an operative communication with an arrow head.

5. An apparatus of claim 2 wherein said means for engaging an arrow tip to said first end of said body comprises:

an axial passage defined by a sidewall, said axial passage communicating at said first end;

said axial passage having a threaded interior surface portion; and

said threaded surface portion configured for a cooperative engagement with a threaded member extending from an operative communication with an arrow head.

6. An apparatus of claim 3 wherein said means for engaging an arrow tip to said first end of said body comprises:

an axial passage defined by a sidewall, said axial passage communicating at said first end;

said axial passage having a threaded interior surface portion; and

said threaded surface portion configured for a cooperative engagement with a threaded member extending from an operative communication with an arrow head.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 additionally comprising:

said exterior circumference of said body tapering from a narrowest point at closest to said first end, to a widest point at or adjacent to, said second end.

8. The apparatus of claim 2 additionally comprising:

said exterior circumference of said body tapering from a narrowest point at or closest to said first end, to a widest point at or adjacent to, said second end.

9. The apparatus of claim 3 additionally comprising:

said exterior circumference of said body tapering from a narrowest point at closest to said first end, to a widest point at or adjacent to, said second end.

10. The apparatus of claim 6 additionally comprising:

said exterior circumference of said body tapering from a narrowest point at closest to said first end, to a widest point at or adjacent to, said second end.

11. The apparatus of claim 7 additionally comprising:

a shoulder portion extending a length between said first end of said body and said narrowest point of said taper;

said shoulder portion having a diameter substantially equal to a diameter of said arrow shaft; and

said shoulder portion providing a support surface for said arrow upon an arrow rest of a bow, said support surface being forward of said leading end of said arrow.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 additionally comprising:

a shoulder portion extending a length between said first end of said body and said narrowest point of said taper;

said shoulder portion having a diameter substantially equal to a diameter of said arrow shaft; and

said shoulder portion providing a support surface for said arrow upon an arrow rest of a bow, said support surface being forward of said leading end of said arrow.

13. The apparatus of claim 9 additionally comprising:

a shoulder portion extending a length between said first end of said body and said narrowest point of said taper;

said shoulder portion having a diameter substantially equal to a diameter of said arrow shaft; and

said shoulder portion providing a support surface for said arrow upon an arrow rest of a bow, said support surface being forward of said leading end of said arrow.

14. The apparatus of claim 10 additionally comprising:

a shoulder portion extending a length between said first end of said body and said narrowest point of said taper;

said shoulder portion having a diameter substantially equal to a diameter of said arrow shaft; and

said shoulder portion providing a support surface for said arrow upon an arrow rest of a bow, said support surface being forward of said leading end of said arrow.

15. The apparatus of claim 1 additionally comprising:

said body at said second end having an exterior surface configured to interact with air during a flight of said arrow and exert a spin to said arrow from said leading end.

16. The apparatus of claim 2 additionally comprising:

said body at said second end having an exterior surface configured to interact with air during a flight of said arrow and exert a spin to said arrow from said leading end.

17. The apparatus of claim 3 additionally comprising:

said body at said second end having an exterior surface configured to interact with air during a flight of said arrow and exert a spin to said arrow from said leading end.

18. The apparatus of claim 7 additionally comprising:

said body at said second end having an exterior surface configured to interact with air during a flight of said arrow and exert a spin to said arrow from said leading end.

19. The apparatus of claim 11 additionally comprising:

said body at said second end having an exterior surface configured to interact with air during a flight of said arrow and exert a spin to said arrow from said leading end.

20. The apparatus of claim 14 additionally comprising:

said body at said second end having an exterior surface configured to interact with air during a flight of said arrow and exert a spin to said arrow from said leading end.
