4. A method of making a respiration sensing subsystem, the method comprising:

integrating a pair of spaced conductors in a flexible pattern into the material of a stretchable band; detecting changes in impedance between the spaced conductors as the band stretches to sense at least one respiration parameter; and incorporating a flexible moisture repellant compound in the stretchable material of the band serving as a dielectric between the pair of spaced conductors to prevent moisture from affecting the sensing of said at least one parameter. - View Dependent Claims (5, 6)

incorporating spaced insulated wires in a flexible pattern into the material of a stretchable band; detecting changes in impedance between at least one pair of spaced insulated wires as the band stretches to sense at least one respiration parameter; and incorporating a moisture repellant compound in the stretchable material of the band between said pair of spaced insulated wires to prevent moisture from affecting the sensing of said at least one respiration parameter.
