Abstract

An organic light-emitting display device and a method of manufacturing the same are disclosed. The organic light-emitting display device includes: a substrate, a plurality of pixels on the substrate, a plurality of first electrodes, each disposed in each of the plurality of pixels, a pixel defining layer including a first pixel defining sub-layer disposed between each two adjacent first electrodes, and a second pixel defining sub-layer covering the first pixel defining sub-layer and surface edge portions of each two adjacent first electrodes, an intermediate layer disposed on each of the first electrodes and including an emission layer, and a second electrode configured to face the first electrodes.

Claims

1. An organic light-emitting display device comprising:

a substrate;

a plurality of pixels on the substrate;

a plurality of first electrodes, each disposed in each of the plurality of pixels;

a pixel defining layer comprising a first pixel defining sub-layer disposed between each two adjacent first electrodes, and a second pixel defining sub-layer covering the first pixel defining sub-layer and surface edge portions of each two adjacent first electrodes;

an intermediate layer disposed on each of the first electrodes and comprising an emission layer; and

a second electrode configured to face the first electrodes.

2. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1, wherein the second pixel defining sub-layer comprises an opening in a center of the second pixel defining sub-layer.

3. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1, wherein the first pixel defining sub-layer is an organic layer.

4. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1, wherein the first pixel defining sub-layer comprises at least one material selected from the group consisting of polyacryl, polyimide, polyamide (PA), benzocyclobutene (BCB) and a phenolic resin.

5. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1, wherein the first pixel defining sub-layer has a thickness of about 0.2 to about 3 μ

m.

6. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1, wherein the second pixel defining sub-layer is an inorganic layer.

7. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1, wherein the second pixel defining sub-layer comprises at least one material selected from the group consisting of SiO₂, SiN_x, Al₂O₃, CuO_x, Tb₄O₇, Y₂O₃, Nb₂O₅, and Pr₂O₃.

8. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1, wherein the second pixel defining sub-layer has a thickness of about 0.1 to about 1 μ

m.

9. A method of manufacturing an organic light-emitting display device, the method comprising:

forming a first electrode in each pixel on a substrate;

forming a first pixel defining sub-layer between each two adjacent first electrodes;

forming a second pixel defining sub-layer to cover the first pixel defining sub-layer and surface edge portions of each two adjacent first electrodes;

forming an intermediate layer on the first electrode, the intermediate layer comprising an emission layer; and

forming a second electrode facing the first electrodes.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising forming an opening in a center of the second pixel defining sub-layer.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the opening is formed using a photolithography process.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the first pixel defining sub-layer is formed as an organic layer.

13. The method of claim 9, wherein the first pixel defining sub-layer is formed of at least one material selected from the group consisting of polyacryl, polyimide, polyamide (PA), benzocyclobutene (BCB) and a phenolic resin.

14. The method of claim 9, wherein the first pixel defining sub-layer has a thickness of about 0.2 to about 3 μ

m.

15. The method of claim 9, wherein the second pixel defining sub-layer is formed as an inorganic layer.

16. The method of claim 9, wherein the second pixel defining sub-layer is formed of at least one material selected from the group consisting of SiO₂, SiN_x, Al₂O₃, CuO₃, Tb₄O₇, Y₂O₃, Nb₂O₅, and Pr₂O₃.

17. The method of claim 9, wherein the second pixel defining sub-layer has a thickness of about 0.1 to about 1 μ

m.

18. An organic light-emitting display device comprising:

a substrate;

a plurality of pixels on the substrate;

a plurality of first electrodes, each disposed in each of the plurality of pixels;

a pixel defining layer comprising;

an organic pixel defining sub-layer disposed between each two adjacent first electrodes; and

an inorganic pixel defining sub-layer covering the first pixel defining sub-layer and surface edge portions of each two adjacent first electrodes, wherein the inorganic pixel defining sub-layer is configured to discharge an outgas generated from the organic pixel defining sub-layer;

an intermediate layer disposed on each of the first electrodes and comprising an emission layer; and

a second electrode configured to face the first electrodes.

19. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 18, wherein the organic pixel defining sub-layer has a thickness of about 0.2 to about 3 μ

m.

20. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 18, wherein the inorganic pixel defining sub-layer has a thickness of about 0.1 to about 1 μ

m.
