Abstract

A method and wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) for receiving a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) data is disclosed. A WTRU receives MBMS data segments from a first MBMS transmitting source along with segmentation information. The WTRU receives MBMS data segments and segmentation information from a second MBMS transmitting source. The MBMS data segments from the first MBMS transmitting source and the MBMS data segments from the second MBMS transmitting source are received in different order. The WTRU reassembles the MBMS data segments based on the segmentation information received from the first MBMS transmitting source and the second MBMS transmitting source.

Claims

1. A method for receiving multimedia broadcasts/multicast services (MBMS) data implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

receiving MBMS data segments from a first MBMS transmitting source along with segmentation information;

receiving MBMS data segments and segmentation information from a second MBMS transmitting source, wherein the MBMS data segments from the first MBMS transmitting source and the MBMS data segments from the second MBMS transmitting source are received in different order; and

reassembling the MBMS data segments based on the segmentation information received from the first MBMS transmitting source and the second MBMS transmitting source.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein segmentation information includes a segment identifier.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first MBMS transmitting source and the second MBMS transmitting source are in different cells of a wireless communication system.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the MBMS data segments and segmentation information from the first MBMS transmitting source are received via a different channel than the MBMS data segments and segmentation information from the second MBMS transmitting source.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the MBMS data segments from the first MBMS transmitting source are at least one transmission time interval (TTI) ahead of or behind the MBMS data segments from the second MBMS transmitting source.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the MBMS data segments from the first MBMS transmitting source are received over a secondary common control physical channel (S-CCPCH).

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the segmentation information from the first MBMS transmitting source is received over a secondary common control physical channel (S-CCPCH).

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the MBMS data segments from the second MBMS transmitting source are received over a secondary common control physical channel (S-CCPCH).

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the segmentation information from the second MBMS transmitting source is received over a secondary common control physical channel (S-CCPCH).

10. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) for receiving multimedia broadcasts/multicast services (MBMS) data from a plurality of transmitting sources, the WTRU comprising:

circuitry configured to receive MBMS data segments from each of the transmitting sources, wherein the MBMS data segments from each of the transmitting sources are received in different order;

circuitry configured to receive segmentation information from each of the transmitting sources, wherein the segmentation information is received in band with the MBMS data segments; and

circuitry configured to reassemble the MBMS data segments based on the segmentation information.

11. The WTRU of claim 10, wherein segmentation information includes a segment identifier.

12. The WTRU of claim 10, wherein the transmitting sources are in different cells of a wireless communication system.

13. The WTRU of claim 10, wherein the MBMS data segments from one of the transmitting sources is received via a different channel from an other transmitting sources.

14. The WTRU of claim 10, wherein MBMS data segments from one of the transmitting sources are at least one transmission time interval (TTI) ahead of or behind MBMS data segments from an other transmitting source.

15. The WTRU of claim 10, wherein MBMS data segments from one of the transmitting sources are received over a secondary common control physical channel (S-CCPCH).
