Abstract

An implant for creating incisions in the tissues surrounding the bladder neck and the urethra of a patient, for relaxing the opening of the bladder, the implant includes a central connector and at least one wire, the wires extend radially outwardly from the center of the central connector, the wires apply continuous pressure on the surrounding tissues, the wires are foldable within an implant sheath for enabling delivery and extraction thereof, the implant is implanted within a restricted location of the urethra for a period of time for creating incisions at the locations where the wires apply pressure on the surrounding tissues.

24. Removable implant for enlarging the urethral wall area, in the vicinity of at least one of the bladder neck and the prostatic urethra, the implant comprising:

at least two wires, each extending radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis of said removable implant, for applying continuous radial pressure on said urethral wall and tissue surrounding said urethral wall;

wherein said at least two wires is foldable by a restrainer for enabling delivery and extraction of said removable implant, and

wherein said removable implant is implantable within the urethra in the vicinity of at least one of the bladder neck and the prostatic urethra, for enlarging the urethral wall area, by inducing infarctioning pressure to said urethral wall and said surrounding tissue over a finite time period.

25. The removable implant of claim 24, wherein each one of said at least two wires is self expanding, such that once each one of said at least two wires is exposed from said restrainer, said wire expands and applies continuous pressure on said urethral wall and said surrounding tissues.

26. The removable implant of claim 24, further comprising an expander for expanding each one of said at least two wires once exposed from said restrainer, each one of said at least two wires being expanded and applying continuous pressure on said urethral wall and said surrounding tissues.

27. The removable implant of claim 24, wherein said time period is selected from the list consisting of:

determined in real time according to observations;

predetermined; and

between one hour and 30 days.

28. The removable implant of claim 24, further comprising a proximal end coupled with at least one of said at least two wires, said proximal end being tapered.

29. The removable implant of claim 24, wherein the shape of each one of said at least two wires is selected from the list consisting of:

the shape of said wire being wider at the proximal end than at the distal end thereof for preventing said removable implant from moving in the distal direction;

the shape of said wire being wider at the distal end than at the proximal end thereof for preventing said removable implant from moving in the proximal direction; and

the shape of said wire being narrower at the middle thereof than at the distal and proximal portions thereof for preventing said removable implant from moving in the proximal direction and in the distal direction.

30. The removable implant of claim 24, further comprising at least one barb extending from at least one of said at least two wires, said at least one barb penetrating said urethral wall and said surrounding tissues for anchoring said removable implant in position.

31. The removable implant of claim 24, further comprising an anchoring leaflet for preventing said removable implant from moving in the direction of extension of said anchoring leaflet.

32. The removable implant of claim 24, further comprising a central connector, coupled with said at least two wires, said central connector being a central tube enabling fluid flow there-through.

33. The removable implant of claim 32, further comprising at least one wing, coupled between a respective one of said at least two wires and said central connector for preventing tissue from growing around said respective wire.

34. The removable implant of claim 24, wherein said removable implant is constructed of biodegradable materials.

35. The removable implant of claim 24, further comprising a substance release element which slowly releases substances into the body of the patient, wherein said substances are selected from the list consisting of:

anti-inflammatory;

anti-biotics; and

painkillers.

36. The removable implant of claim 24, wherein said restrainer is an implant sheath.

37. Removable implant for enlarging the urethral wall area, in the vicinity of at least one of the bladder neck and the prostatic urethra, the implant comprising:

a central connector;

at least one wire, coupled with said central connector and extending radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis of said removable implant, for applying continuous radial pressure on said urethral wall and tissue surrounding said urethral wall;

wherein said at least one wire is foldable by a restrainer for enabling delivery and extraction of said removable implant, and

wherein said removable implant is implantable within the urethra in the vicinity of at least one of the bladder neck and the prostatic urethra, for enlarging the urethral wall area, by inducing infarctioning pressure to said urethral wall and said surrounding tissue over a finite time period.

38. An anchoring leaflet for positioning and preventing migration of a urethral device, in the vicinity of the bladder neck, said anchoring leaflet being coupled with said urethral device at a first end thereof, the second end of said anchoring leaflet being situated between the distal sphincter and the proximal sphincter of the urethra, proximately to said proximal sphincter, within a cavity defined by the prostate.

39. Method for enlarging the urethral wall area, in the vicinity of at least one of the bladder neck and the prostatic urethra of a patient, the method comprising the procedures of:

delivering a removable implant to said vicinity of at least one of the bladder neck and the prostatic urethra, said removable implant having at least one foldable wire, by employing a delivery system;

releasing said removable implant and removing said delivery system;

applying continuous pressure on said surrounding tissues by said at least one wire of said removable implant, thereby inducing infarction to said urethral wall and said surrounding tissue; and

at the appearance of a predetermined condition, extracting said removable implant from said patient.

40. The method of claim 39, further comprising a procedure of finding the location in said vicinity of at least one of the bladder neck and the prostatic urethra of said patient, performed before said procedure of delivering.
