Abstract

Furcation mounting structures for securing a plurality of furcation bodies of respective fiber optic cable assembles within the fiber optic shelf are disclosed. In one embodiment, the furcation mounting structure has a first type of aperture for attaching a first type of clip for securing a furcation body and a second type of aperture for securing a second type of clip for securing a furcation body. Consequently, the furcation management structures disclosed advantageously allow the mounting of different types of clips thereto. In other embodiments, the furcation mounting structure is mounted within the fiber optic shelf or assembly.

Claims

1. A furcation management structure for securing a plurality of clips thereto, the furcation management structure having a first type of aperture for attaching a first type of clip for securing a furcation body and a second type of aperture for securing a second type of clip for securing a furcation body.

2. The furcation management structure of claim 1, wherein the first type of aperture and the second type of aperture share a common aperture.

3. The furcation management structure of claim 1, wherein the furcation management structure can secure at least twelve clips thereto.

4. The furcation management structure of claim 1 having multiple levels for securing the plurality of clips.

5. The furcation management structure of claim 1 including at least one first type of clip and at least one second type of clip.

6. The furcation management structure of claim 1, wherein the first type of aperture is a keyhole aperture.

7. The furcation management structure of claim 1, further including a plurality of clips attached thereto.

8. The furcation management structure of claim 7, wherein some of the plurality of clips can secure at least two furcation bodies of respective fiber optic cable assemblies.

9. The furcation management structure claim 7, further comprising at least two furcation bodies oppositely facing each other within the fiber optic shelf assembly.

10. The furcation management structure of claim 1, wherein the furcation management structure is adapted for mounting within a fiber optic shelf assembly.

11. The furcation management structure of claim 1, wherein the first type of aperture allows mounting of a clip in two different directions.

12. The furcation management structure of claim 1 forming a portion of a fiber optic shelf assembly.

13. A furcation management structure for securing a plurality of clips thereto, the furcation management structure having a first type of aperture for attaching a first type of clip for securing a furcation body and a second type of aperture for securing a second type of clip for securing a furcation body, wherein the furcation management structure is disposed within a fiber optic shelf assembly.

14. The furcation management structure of claim 13, wherein the first type of aperture and the second type of aperture share a common aperture.

15. The furcation management structure of claim 13 having multiple levels for securing the plurality of clips.

16. The furcation management structure of claim 13 including at least one first type of clip and at least one second type of clip.

17. The furcation management structure of claim 13, wherein the first type of aperture is a keyhole aperture.

18. The furcation management structure of claim 13, further including a plurality of clips attached thereto.

19. A method of securing clips to a furcation management structure including the steps of:

providing a furcation management structure having a first type of aperture for attaching a first type of clip and a second type of aperture for attaching a second type of clip; and

attaching at least one clip to the furcation management structure.

20. The method of claim 19 further including the step of mounting the furcation management structure within a fiber optic shelf assembly.
