Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention delineate systems and methods for dynamically assessing and mitigating risk of an insured entity. Additional embodiments of the present invention delineate systems and methods for providing a user of a mobile device with information relevant to a position of a mobile device, wherein such information may describe one of a risk and an opportunity within a predetermined distance of a location for the mobile device.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving an insurance claim regarding a mobile device; and

evaluating the merits of the claim based on information obtained from a provided database, the database configured to store and permit access to tracking and loss information about the mobile device.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the merits of the claim are evaluated at least by determining from the information one or more of:

whether the mobile device is within a predetermined distance of a home or a business place of an authorized user of the mobile device;

whether the mobile device is being used to submit the claim; and

whether the mobile device has been used to call one or more numbers associated with a frequently called list associated with the authorized user of the mobile device.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the information comprises one or more of a current location associated with the mobile device, a past location associated with the mobile device, a plurality of locations associated with the mobile device wherein the plurality of locations define a track for the mobile device.

The method of claim 1 wherein the information comprises one or more of a still image taken from the mobile device, a video stream taken from the mobile device, a last phone number dialed from the mobile device, a phone number corresponding to a last call received by the mobile device, a plurality of phone numbers stored in the mobile device over a predetermined period of time, a voice message provided from the mobile device and a spoken report provided from the mobile device.

23. The method of claim 1 wherein upon a triggering event the information may be retrieved from the mobile device for storage in the provided database.

5. A method, comprising:

analyzing a location of an insured mobile device associated with an entity;

determining a risk level associated with the location of the insured mobile device; and

generating an insurance risk profile for the entity based on the location and risk level.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising determining an insurance policy premium for the entity based on the insurance risk profile.

7. The method of claim 5, further comprising receiving a claim for loss of the mobile device and determining that the loss occurred in a non-covered area based on the location of the mobile device.

8. The method of claim 5, further comprising modifying the insurance risk profile based on the occurrence of an event associated with the location.

9. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

monitoring a change in the location of the mobile device; and

modifying the insurance risk profile in accordance with the change in the location of the mobile device.

10. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

obtaining, from one or more of a database and the mobile device, a plurality of tracked locations for the mobile device corresponding to locations the mobile device traversed during a predetermined period of time;

analyzing the plurality of tracked locations to produce a composite risk adjustment score; and

modifying the insurance risk profile using the composite risk adjustment score.

11. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

collecting information regarding an operator of the mobile device submitting an insurance claim; and

determining if the operator of the mobile device is authorized to submit the insurance claim.

The method of claim 10, further comprising determining one or more of whether the location of the mobile device is among a predetermined number of locations in a profile of locations that are most-often visited by the mobile device and whether the plurality of tracked locations of the mobile device are among the predetermined number of locations in the profile of locations that are most-often visited by the mobile device.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising marking the insurance claim as a potential fraudulent claim when the location of the mobile device or the plurality of tracked locations of the mobile device are not among the predetermined number of locations in the profile of locations most-often visited by the mobile device.

14. The method of claim 5, further comprising providing the location of the mobile device to a third party.

15. The method of claim 5, further comprising transmitting a message to the mobile device, the message indicating a hazard associated with the location.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising requesting a response to the message.

17. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

receiving a report indicating a purpose for a user to visit the location; and

revising the insurance risk profile based on one or more of the location, the risk level and the purpose.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein the purpose comprises one or more of a visit for business and a visit for pleasure.

19. A method, comprising:

determining a location of a mobile device associated with an entity; and

providing a service to the entity, the service being directed to provide a user of the mobile device information describing one or more of a risk and an opportunity within a predetermined distance of a location of the mobile device.

20. The method of claim 19, further comprising accessing a profile for the user before providing the information.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein the risk within the predetermined distance of the current location of the mobile device may comprise potential harm that could arise from an undesirable weather condition, a natural disaster, a manmade disaster, heightened crime risk, traffic, pollution, noise and a terrorist attack.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein the opportunity within the predetermined distance of the current location of the mobile device may comprise potential benefit that could arise from patronizing a place that may be of interest to the user as determined by one or more of the profile and the risk.
