Abstract

A data processing device for providing access to information related to a digital image record includes a display for presenting the digital image record. A user interface system receives an indication of user interaction with the displayed digital image record. A data processing system responsive to the received indication presents tab on the display. The tab displays or emanates near or from an edge of the displayed digital image record or from an edge of a displayed digital image record container including the digital image record. The tab includes an access point configured to allow a user to access a category of information related to content contained within the digital image record, and the tab is labeled according to the category of information for user access.

Claims

1. A data processing device for providing access to information related to a digital image record, comprising:

a display for presenting the digital image record;

a user interface system for receiving an indication of user interaction with the displayed digital image record; and

a data processing system responsive to the received indication for presenting a tab on the display, the tab displaying or emanating near or from an edge of the displayed digital image record or from an edge of a displayed digital image record container including the digital image record, wherein the tab comprises an access point configured to allow a user to access a category of information related to content contained within the digital image record, and the tab is labeled according to the category of information for user access.

2. The data processing device according to claim 1, wherein the data processing device is a handheld device and the user interaction is a touch screen actuation or an audible command.

3. The data processing device according to claim 2, wherein the handheld device includes a personal digital assistant, a Blackberry™

, a digital camera, or a cellular phone.

4. The data processing device according to claim 2, wherein the handheld device includes a cellular device.

5. The data processing device according to claim 1, wherein the category of information includes shopping information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

6. The data processing device according to claim 1, wherein the category of information includes event information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

7. The data processing device according to claim 1, wherein the category of information includes personal information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

8. The data processing device according to claim 1, wherein the category of information includes information about similar locations to those in the image content.

9. The data processing device according to claim 1, wherein the category of information includes information about other images from the same vacation or time frame as the image content.

10. The data processing device according to claim 1, wherein the user interaction includes a mouse hover, a mouse click, a physical touch of a touch-screen display, a point using a motion sensor, a remote control device, a voice command, a mouse-button click, or a keyboard key press.

11. Apparatus for providing access to information related to a digital image record on a data processing device comprising a data processing device that presents the digital image record on a display with at least one tab displaying or emanating near or from an edge of the displayed digital image record or from an edge of a displayed digital image record container including the digital image record;

wherein the tab includes an access point configured to allow a user to access a category of information related to content contained within the digital image record.

12. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the category of information includes shopping information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

13. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the category of information includes event information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

14. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the category of information includes personal information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

15. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the category of information includes similar image information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

16. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the data processing device is a handheld device and the user interaction is a touch screen actuation or an audible command.

17. The apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the handheld device includes a personal digital assistant, a Blackberry™

, a digital camera, or a cellular phone.

18. The apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the handheld device includes a cellular device.

19. The apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the category of information includes shopping information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

20. The apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the category of information includes event information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

21. The apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the category of information includes personal information relating to the content contained within the digital image record.

22. The apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the category of information includes information about similar locations to those in the image content.

23. The apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the category of information includes information about other images from the same vacation or time frame as the image content.
