Abstract

A method for simultaneously transmitting packets having different lengths to two or more users in a wireless communication system includes: generating the packets to transmit to the respective users, the packets containing information on the maximum transmission length of the packets having different lengths; and simultaneously transmitting the generated packets to the respective users. The maximum transmission length is represented by the number of symbols, and each of the packets sequentially contains control information required for transmitting the packet, data, a tail field, and a PHY pad field, and is generated by inserting a MAC pad between the control information and the data such that the tail field and the PHY pad field are positioned at the last byte of the last symbol of the maximum transmission length.

Claims

1. A method for simultaneously transmitting packets having different lengths to two or more users in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

generating the packets to transmit to the respective users, the packets containing information on the maximum transmission length of the packets having different lengths; and

simultaneously transmitting the generated packets to the respective users,

wherein the maximum transmission length is represented by the number of symbols, and

each of the packets sequentially contains control information required for transmitting the packet, data, a tail field, and a physical layer (PHY) pad field, and is generated by inserting a medium access control (MAC) pad between the control information and the data such that the tail field and the PHY pad field are positioned at the last byte of the last symbol of the maximum transmission length.

The method of claim 1, wherein the maximum transmission length comprises the maximum number of symbols required for transmitting a training field, a signal field, and a data field for each of the users, and is contained in a common field for transmitting the same information to the two or more users.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the MAC pad comprises an aggregated MAC protocol data unit (A-MPDU) subframe of which the MPDU length is ‘

0’

4. A method for receiving a packet from a transmitter which simultaneously transmits packets having different lengths to two or more users in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving a packet containing information on the maximum transmission length of the packets having different lengths; and

finding the position of a tail field contained in the received packet by using the information on the maximum transmission length, and processing the received packet,

wherein the maximum transmission length is represented by the number of symbols, and

the received packet sequentially contains control information required for transmitting the received packet, data, the tail field, and a PHY pad field, and is generated by inserting a MAC pad between the control information and the data such that the tail field and the PHY pad field are positioned at the last byte of the last symbol of the maximum transmission length.

The method of claim 4, wherein the maximum transmission length comprises the maximum number of symbols required for transmitting a training field, a signal field, and a data field for each of the two or more users, and is contained in a common field for transmitting the same information to the two or more users.

7. An apparatus for simultaneously transmitting packets having different lengths to two or more users in a wireless communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a packet generation unit configured to generate the packets to transmit to the respective users, the packets containing information on the maximum transmission length of the packets having different lengths; and

a reception unit configured to simultaneously transmit the generated packets to the respective users,

wherein the maximum transmission length is represented by the number of symbols, and

each of the packets sequentially contains control information required for transmitting the packet, data, a tail field, and a PHY pad field, and is generated by inserting a MAC pad between the control information and the data such that the tail field and the PHY pad field are positioned at the last byte of the last symbol of the maximum transmission length.

The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the maximum transmission length comprises the maximum number of symbols required for transmitting a training field, a signal field, and a data field for each of the users, and is contained in a common field for transmitting the same information to the two or more users.

9. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the MAC pad comprises an A-MPDU subframe of which the MPDU length is ‘

10. An apparatus for receiving a packet from a transmitter which simultaneously transmit packets having different lengths to two or more users in a wireless communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a reception unit configured to receive a packet containing information on the maximum transmission length of the packets having different lengths; and

a packet processing unit configured to find the position of a tail field contained in the received packet by using the information on the maximum transmission length and process the received packet,

wherein the maximum transmission length is represented by the number of symbols, and

the received packet sequentially contains control information required for transmitting the received packet, data, the tail field, and a PHY pad field, and is generated by inserting a MAC pad between the control information and the data such that the tail field and the PHY pad field are positioned at the last byte of the last symbol of the maximum transmission length.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the maximum transmission length comprises the maximum number of symbols required for transmitting a training field, a signal field, and a data field for each of the two or more users, and is contained in a common field for transmitting the same information to the two or more users.
