Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to Internet resource metadata creation and utility and provide a method, system and computer program product for the transformation of articles creating subjective metadata utilized for discovery into articles creating mathematical data that is inherently dynamic, global, composed of auditable elements, conducive to relational cross-reference, and utilized to produce statistical opinion data.

Claims

1. A method to convert spontaneous, subjective responses of network respondents into statistical opinion data, comprising:

a computer communications network comprising at least one uniform resource identifier comprising at least one subject, and at least one respondent able to input at least one subjective response regarding at least one said subject;

at least one computer controlled survey form delivered to said respondent requesting to respond to said subject, wherein said survey form comprises at least one fixed vocabulary question answered using an answer mechanism to select a response from one or more answer choices, and a function allowing said respondent to save changes to said survey form;

said survey form further comprising;

generalized phrasing of said fixed vocabulary question enabling relation to any said subject, said answer choices each comprising one pair of antonyms, each said antonym consisting of a word of definite character naming an unambiguous human value, belief, opinion, feeling, emotion, or judgment, and said answer mechanism is utilized to indicate one said antonym as said response, wherein more than one said answer choice may be responded to by said respondent per said survey;

conversion of said subjective responses into mathematical values, comprising;

said antonym pair further comprising the assignment of mathematical value negative X to one said antonym and the assignment of mathematical value positive X to the opposing antonym, said answer mechanism providing for scaled indication of said response anywhere within the continuum between said mathematical values, at least one said indication and utilization of said function to save changes to said survey form creating a converted response comprising at least one mathematical value associated with one said antonym relating to one said subject, wherein no use of said answer mechanism results in a value of 0 assigned to all said antonyms and does not produce a converted response; and

at least one information processing system to deliver said survey form to said respondent, receive said converted response data, and assign identifiers to elements involved in said converted response for conductivity to database processing and delivery of outputs, said outputs comprising statistical opinion data regarding said subjects on said network.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said subjective responses consist of at least one of affective, conative, and cognitive responses.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein said computer communications network is at least one of an intranet, extranet and the Internet.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein said uniform resource identifier is at least one of uniform resource location and uniform resource name.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said subject comprises creators of said uniform resource identifiers.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein said subject is at least one of a website, webpage, textual content, non-textual content, product, service, interactive content, advertising content, markup language, meta title, and meta description tag.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein said respondent utilizes a text based or graphical user interface browser enabled computing device.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein said respondent requesting to respond consists of said respondent command entered into at least one of a web application, web form, graphical user interface widget, mobile application, and locally stored computer program.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein said respondent is an anonymous or member visitor of a website.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein said survey form further comprises said respondent ability to categorize said response, said respondent ability to typify said subject, and at least one field allowing said respondent entry of subjective data regarding said subject.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein said identifiers to elements consist of at least one of:

time of said converted response event;

said network analytic data related to said converted response;

internet protocol address of said respondent;

geographical information of said internet protocol address;

uniform resource location of said subject;

uniform resource name of said subject;

said converted response mathematical values associated with respective said antonyms;

markup language data, including meta title and meta description tag, from said converted response associated uniform resource identifier;

said respondent category, type, tag and comment data entered into said survey form;

known demographic data of said respondent;

or inferable demographic data of said respondent.

12. The method of claim, 1 wherein said outputs consist of at least one of:

rankings of all said uniform resource indicators, said subjects, and said respondents involved in all said converted responses, by cumulative said mathematical positive values and cumulative said mathematical negative values stored in said information processing system, per each said antonym contained within all said answer choices within all said surveys;

results from search term queries into a database containing all said identifiers to elements;

or outputs from specific cross referencing commands to or requests from a database containing all said identifiers to elements.

13. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

computer controlled integrity of said response utilizing a challenge response test which must be successfully passed by said respondent prior to acceptance of said response and a limitation of one said response per said respondent internet protocol address per said uniform resource identifier.

14. A method to convert subjective metadata into statistical opinion data, comprising:

a computer application accessed by user desiring to respond to a web resource;

said application displays a survey form comprising;

a drop down menu listing types of web resources, one generic question applicable to each said web resource type, a plurality of answer choices, a graphical slider mechanism, at least one text entry field for subjective tags and comments to be entered by said user, and a function allowing said user to save said survey changes;

said user selects a web resource type from said drop down menu listing web resource types;

said generic question associated with selected web resource type is displayed in said survey form;

said plurality of answer choices are presented in a drop down menu and selected singularly by said user;

said singular answer choice is comprised of two words, each the antonym of the other, wherein one antonym is assigned a value of negative 10.00 and its pairing antonym is assigned a value of positive 10.00;

said question is answered by said user movement of said graphical slider towards one said antonym, wherein said slider movement displays a value in scaled negative or positive increments of 0.01 within the continuum between said values to capture a precise score for the antonym selected by said user in response to said question;

each said antonym consisting of a word of definite character naming an unambiguous human value, belief, opinion, feeling, emotion, or judgment;

said user movement of said slider to select one said antonym from at least one answer choice from said plurality and said user implementation of said function to save said survey changes creates an opinion, wherein said opinion is comprised of at least one said precise score associated with at least one said antonym, one said web resource type, and one said web resource;

at least one said opinion must be created before said user is allowed to utilize said text entry field to tag or comment upon said web resource and before said user is allowed to bookmark or share said web resource; and

each said opinion creates a set of relational data elements stored in a database, wherein said database is utilized to extract forward and reverse lookup opinion data regarding said web resources.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein said metadata consists of at least one of user generated bookmarks, tags, comments, opinions, ratings, reviews, or discussion pertaining to uniform resource identifiers.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein said statistical opinion data comprises public opinion regarding at least one of the content, creator, uniform resource location, and uniform resource name of Internet web resources.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein said computer application consists of at least one of a web application, mobile application, browser taskbar application, web widget, module, intranet application, extranet application, and application stored on a local device.

18. The method of claim 14, wherein said relational data elements consists of at least one of:

time of said opinion;

network analytic data related to said opinion;

internet protocol address of said user;

geographical information of said internet protocol address;

uniform resource location of said web resource;

at least one said precise score associated with at least one respective said antonym selected;

markup language data, including title, description and resource address, from said web resource;

said user tag and comment data entered into said text field;

known demographic data of said user if a member of said website;

or inferable demographic data of said user.

19. The method of claim 14, wherein said application is hosted by a social bookmarking website allowing members and non-members to utilize said survey form.

20. The method of claim 14, wherein said opinion data comprises:

results ranking said web resources and said users by respective and cumulative said antonym scores;

said results filterable by said relational data elements;

said opinion data is extracted in reverse when said results are generated by said request into said database to display top said web resources or top said users by any said antonym; and

said opinion data is forwardly extracted when said results are generated by search term query into said database, wherein said search term matches to said data elements create a subset of database results, from which cumulative said antonym scores are used to create the ranking order within said subset.
