Abstract

A method, data processing system, and computer program product for identifying network data processing systems. A first number of attributes for a network data processing system are identified by a processor unit. A second number of attributes for a number of potential network data processing systems are identified by the processor unit. A graphical user interface with a graphical representation of a comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes is displayed on a display device.

Claims

1. A method for identifying network data processing systems, the method comprising:

identifying, by a processor unit, a first number of attributes for a network data processing system;

identifying, by the processor unit, a second number of attributes for a number of potential network data processing systems; and

displaying, on a display device, a graphical user interface with a graphical representation of a comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of displaying, on the display device, the graphical user interface with the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes comprises:

displaying, on the display device, the graphical user interface with a plot having a center, wherein values increase away from the center and wherein a first number of values for the first number of attributes and a second number of values for the second number of attributes are displayed on the plot in the graphical user interface for the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the plot is a radar plot.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the step of displaying, on the display device, the graphical user interface with the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes further comprises:

displaying, on the display device, a number of graphical indicators that indicate a value for at least one of each of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

displaying, on the display device, a number of products for use to implement the number of potential network data processing systems.

6. The method of claim 5 further comprising:

responsive to a selection of a product in the number of products, displaying, on the display device, information about the product.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the step of responsive to the selection of the product in the number of products, displaying, on the display device, the information about the product comprises:

responsive to the selection of the product in the number of products, retrieving, by the processor unit, a web page with the information about the product; and

displaying, on the display device, the web page.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes are selected from at least one of efficiency, time to value, risk migration, cost savings, coverage, and security.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the number of potential network data processing systems is selected from at least one of a public cloud, a private cloud, a hybrid cloud, a remotely managed network data processing system, and a third party managed network data processing system.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the network data processing system is selected from one of a current network data processing system and a potential network data processing system.

11. A method for identifying network data processing systems, the method comprising:

displaying a graphical user interface with a number of graphical indicators corresponding to a number of attributes for the network data processing systems;

receiving user input setting a value for at least one of the number of graphical indicators to form a number of values;

identifying a number of network data processing systems having values that are closest to the number of values; and

displaying in the graphical user interface a plot having a center, wherein the values increase away from the center and wherein the number of values for the number of attributes are displayed on the plot in the graphical user interface.

12. A data processing system comprising:

a bus;

a communications unit connected to the bus;

a storage device connected to the bus, wherein the storage device includes program code; and

a processor unit connected to the bus, wherein the processor unit runs the program code to identify a first number of attributes for a network data processing system;

identify a second number of attributes for a number of potential network data processing systems; and

display a graphical user interface with a graphical representation of a comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

13. The data processing system of claim 12, wherein in running the program code to display the graphical user interface with the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes, the processor unit runs the program code to display the graphical user interface with a plot having a center, wherein values increase away from the center and wherein a first number of values for the first number of attributes and a second number of values for the second number of attributes are displayed on the plot in the graphical user interface for the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

14. The data processing system of claim 13, wherein in running the program code to display the graphical user interface with the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes, the processor unit runs the program code to display a number of graphical indicators that indicate a value for at least one of each of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

15. The data processing system of claim 12, wherein the processor unit further runs the program code to display a number of products for use to implement the number of potential network data processing systems.

16. The data processing system of claim 15, wherein the processor unit further runs the program code to display information about a product in response to a selection of the product in the number of products.

17. The data processing system of claim 16, wherein in running the program code to display the information about the product in response to the selection of the product in the number of products, the processor unit runs the program code to retrieve a web page with the information about the product in response to the selection of the product in the number of products;

and display the web page.

18. The data processing system of claim 12, wherein the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes are selected from at least one of efficiency, time to value, risk migration, cost savings, coverage, and security.

19. The data processing system of claim 12, wherein the number of potential network data processing systems is selected from at least one of a public cloud, a private cloud, a hybrid cloud, a remotely managed network data processing system, and a third party managed network data processing system.

20. The data processing system of claim 12, wherein the network data processing system is selected from one of a current network data processing system and a potential network data processing system.

21. A computer program product comprising:

a computer recordable storage medium;

program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for identifying a first number of attributes for a network data processing system;

program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for identifying a second number of attributes for a number of potential network data processing systems; and

program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for displaying a graphical user interface with a graphical representation of a comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

22. The computer program product of claim 21, wherein the program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for displaying the graphical user interface with the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes comprises:

program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for displaying the graphical user interface with a plot having a center, wherein values increase away from the center and wherein a first number of values for the first number of attributes and a second number of values for the second number of attributes are displayed on the plot in the graphical user interface for the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

23. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for displaying the graphical user interface with the graphical representation of the comparison of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes comprises:

program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for displaying a number of graphical indicators that indicate a value for at least one of each of the first number of attributes and the second number of attributes.

24. The computer program product of claim 21 further comprising:

program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for displaying a number of products for use to implement the number of potential network data processing systems.

25. The computer program product of claim 24 further comprising:

program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for displaying information about the product in response to a selection of a product in the number of products.
