Abstract

A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided. The mobile terminal selects a method of interfacing an identification device with the mobile terminal according to whether the mobile terminal enters a sleep mode.

Claims

1. A mobile terminal comprising:

an interface unit configured to interface with an identification device which stores authentication information for authenticating permissions to use the mobile terminal; and

a controller configured to control the interface unit to interface with the identification device using a second interface method, when the mobile terminal being interfaced with the identification device using a first interface method different from the second interface method enters a specific mode.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the specific mode is a sleep mode.

3. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to control the interface unit to interface with the identification device using the first interface method when the mobile terminal ends the specific mode.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the identification device comprises a first interface module using the first interface method and a second interface module using the second interface method,

wherein the controller transmits a control signal for activating the second interface module to the second interface module when the mobile terminal enters the specific mode.

5. The mobile terminal of claim 4, wherein the controller transmits a control signal for deactivating the first interface module to the first interface module when the mobile terminal enters the specific mode.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the first interface method corresponds to universal serial bus (USB) scheme and the second interface method corresponds to international organization for standardization (ISO) scheme.

7. A control method of a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

interfacing with an identification device storing authentication information for authenticating permissions to use the mobile terminal using a first interface method; and

interfacing with the identification device using a second interface method different from the first interface method, when the mobile terminal enters a sleep mode.

8. The control method of claim 7, further comprising interfacing with the identification device using the first interface method when the mobile terminal exits the sleep mode.

9. The control method of claim 7, wherein the first interface method corresponds to USB scheme and the second interface method corresponds to ISO scheme.
