Abstract

A communication device for generating a matrix-mapped sequence is described. The communication device includes sequence generation circuitry. The communication device also includes mapping circuitry coupled to the sequence generation circuitry. The mapping circuitry applies a first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −1 to a sequence. The communication device also includes a transmit block coupled to the mapping circuitry.

Claims

1. A communication device for generating a matrix-mapped sequence, comprising:

sequence generation circuitry;

mapping circuitry coupled to the sequence generation circuitry, wherein the mapping circuitry applies a first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

1 to a sequence; and

a transmit block coupled to the mapping circuitry.

2. The communication device of claim 1, wherein the first matrix is a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix.

3. The communication device of claim 1, wherein the first matrix is given according to an equation

4. The communication device of claim 1, wherein the sequence is a Very High Throughput Long Training Field (VHT-LTF) sequence.

5. The communication device of claim 1, wherein the first matrix is applied to six sequences on five or six streams.

6. The communication device of claim 1, wherein the mapping circuitry applies a second matrix to a pilot sequence, wherein the second matrix comprises a number of replicas of a first row of the first matrix.

7. The communication device of claim 1, wherein the communication device is an access point.

8. The communication device of claim 1, wherein the communication device is a station.

9. A communication device for using a matrix-mapped sequence, comprising:

a receive block;

wherein the receive block receives a sequence that is mapped according to a first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

1; and

channel estimation circuitry coupled to the receive block.

10. The communication device of claim 9, wherein the first matrix is a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix.

11. The communication device of claim 9, wherein the first matrix is given according to an equation

12. The communication device of claim 9, wherein the sequence is a Very High Throughput Long Training Field (VHT-LTF) sequence.

13. The communication device of claim 9, wherein the receive block receives six sequences that are mapped according to the first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

14. The communication device of claim 9, wherein the receive block receives a pilot sequence that is mapped according to a second matrix, wherein the second matrix comprises a number of replicas of a first row of the first matrix.

15. The communication device of claim 9, wherein the communication device is an access point.

16. The communication device of claim 9, wherein the communication device is a station.

17. The communication device of claim 9, wherein the channel estimation circuitry estimates a channel based on the sequence.

18. The communication device of claim 9, further comprising transmitter circuitry coupled to the channel estimation circuitry, wherein the transmitter circuitry transmits a channel estimate based on the sequence.

19. A method for generating a matrix-mapped sequence on a communication device, comprising:

generating a sequence;

applying a first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

1 to the sequence; and

transmitting the sequence.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the first matrix is a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein the first matrix is given according to an equation

22. The method of claim 19, wherein the sequence is a Very High Throughput Long Training Field (VHT-LTF) sequence.

23. The method of claim 19, wherein the first matrix is applied to six sequences on five or six streams.

24. The method of claim 19, further comprising applying a second matrix to a pilot sequence, wherein the second matrix comprises a number of replicas of a first row of the first matrix.

25. The method of claim 19, wherein the communication device is an access point.

26. The method of claim 19, wherein the communication device is a station.

27. A method for using a matrix-mapped sequence on a communication device, comprising:

receiving a sequence that is mapped according to a first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

1; and

estimating a channel.

28. The method of claim 27, wherein the first matrix is a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix.

29. The method of claim 27, wherein the first matrix is given according to an equation

30. The method of claim 27, wherein the sequence is a Very High Throughput Long Training Field (VHT-LTF) sequence.

31. The method of claim 27, wherein six sequences are received that are mapped according to the first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

32. The method of claim 27, further comprising receiving a pilot sequence that is mapped according to a second matrix, wherein the second matrix comprises a number of replicas of a first row of the first matrix.

33. The method of claim 27, wherein the communication device is an access point.

34. The method of claim 27, wherein the communication device is a station.

35. The method of claim 27, wherein the channel is estimated based on the sequence.

36. The method of claim 27, further comprising transmitting a channel estimate based on the sequence.

37. A computer-program product for generating a matrix-mapped sequence, comprising a non-transitory tangible computer-readable medium having instructions thereon, the instructions comprising:

code for causing a communication device to generate a sequence;

code for causing the communication device to apply a first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

1 to the sequence; and

code for causing the communication device to transmit the sequence.

38. The computer-program product of claim 37, wherein the first matrix is given according to an equation

39. The computer-program product of claim 37, wherein the sequence is a Very High Throughput Long Training Field (VHT-LTF) sequence.

40. A computer-program product for using a matrix-mapped sequence, comprising a non-transitory tangible computer-readable medium having instructions thereon, the instructions comprising:

code for causing a communication device to receive a sequence that is mapped according to a first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

1; and

code for causing the communication device to estimate a channel.

41. The computer-program product of claim 40, wherein the first matrix is given according to an equation

42. The computer-program product of claim 40, wherein the sequence is a Very High Throughput Long Training Field (VHT-LTF) sequence.

43. An apparatus for generating a matrix-mapped sequence, comprising:

means for generating a sequence;

means for applying a first matrix with at least one column multiplied by −

1 to the sequence; and

means for transmitting the sequence.

44. The apparatus of claim 43, wherein the first matrix is given according to an equation

46. An apparatus for using a matrix-mapped sequence, comprising:

47. The apparatus of claim 46, wherein the first matrix is given according to an equation
